Painting my Board & Batten wall with HIDDEN DOORS.... & a little pizazz!! ✨✨
Today we are painting my board & batten wall with hidden doors! I am excited to see them the same color as everything else, and we thought of an idea to solve a problem & add a little extra pizazz!

I love all the descriptions. It's not the bedroom, it's the wonderful bedroom. It's not the closets, it's the beautiful closets. Love your enthusiasm! Keep up the great work and the awesome videos. I look forward to watching each and every one of them !!! Thanks Abby and of course. Thanks Jay!!!

Cred ca ai pus o prea sus si se freacă de ,,rama,,. Trebui sa fie un mic spațiu. Ai putea sa freci puțin ca să nu mai fie asa aproape, altfel im timp se va desprinde.
I’ve found when caulking use a baby wipe to spread out the caulk. Dampness keeps it smooth and your hands stay clean. 😊

Great advice
Having a cup of water to dip your finger in when caulking helps sometimes.

@@joqlady888 I have a caulk shirt too 😂
Those closets look so nice. I love watching you every day. You get so much done.
Having kept house 51 years and renovating 6 of our homes in various ways, utilizing semi-gloss for trim is the best option. High gloss is a bear to remove if you change your mind at some point, and over the years, things do change, as does your decor preferences. Go semi-gloss for trim and molding. Walls do well with egg shell finish. They are still washable, but little to no sheen. Decisions, decisions😅 Your cubby doors are gorgeous 😊

Be sure to paint the Back and edges or they will warp over time. 😊

Good advice!
I would put those quarter round, around the whole door for consistency.
Molding goes around the room & continues on to the doors to look like one continuous wall…a work in progress👍🏻
The New York weather must have changed drastically from one day to the next!🤣
Miter the corners… pretty sure Jay would have suggested that❤… you are doing great!
The hair is pulled back and the shoes are off. The girl is ready to lay down some paint!! 😂😂
Looks beautiful Abby ! Wow I remember what it looked like in the beginning! Amazing job you guys! Love it!👍🏼
It looks great! The little touches really do make a difference.
Love how you are making the most of your spaces for storage. You are doing great. Love the wood wall white! - watching from Lake Wales, Florida
Abby you need a wet rag w/o color and wipe your caulk line/ bead. It'll make it look more polished and professional. Also use a water based caulk for painting. tub and tile caulk for wet areas.
I’m glad you went with your own idea of painting it the same color as the walls;( I think it will make the room look larger and more cohesive) Great job!
I love the trim! The room is coming together beautifully!😊
Abby, 2 options on the cracks. You'll have to bevel the end of the little trim piece closets the the hing so it doesn't bind. Or no trim piece at all. I think you'll find that once the room is full of furniture and stuff, you won't notice the cracks at all??
Cabinet paint is very nice and very you can wipe them down no top coat needed. The house is looking very good young lady.
Hi Abby when you caulk, before you run your finger across, dip your finger tip in a small amount of dish soap. It runs over it much more smoothly and less of the caulk sticks to your finger.
I like what you did to the doors! It does look better covered! 💕
Girl you are getting to be a pro with all the tools! I am very proud of you 💞
You can add white caulk to the tiny space at the top on the one panel, let it dry, then paint back over it. You'll never know the difference.
Your hair is very beautiful and you look thinner love the closets
I believe you should put that molding all around the inside of the rectangle. It would then look like real panelining. It's just my opinion of course. It is lovely.

@@joyceprescott3475 how is baseboard going along the bottom when the doors open?
ABBY, You are looking good and so is your Home
You got to have either a wet finger, wet rag, or a baby wipe when doing caulk work! That's how you get your smoothness, and clean lines.
Good afternoon Abby.!!!🎉❤ Beautiful, functional, cozy, cheerful 😍😊 God bless you.
Hi Abby, I'm a new subscriber to the channel. Enjoy watching the remodeling of your new property. You make it look like fun renovating the home. But I now it's hard work the outcome will be amazing. Also love your creek in the back yard. Keep up the good work, have been watching the old videos from the beginning now. Can't wait to see what's next. Roger from Ohio 😊
If I were you, I'd go top quality and generous with the ceiling fans. We usually have a few 100"+F days here in Western Colorado on the edge of the desert. The ceiling fans are a life saver, and keep us from having to suffer the high energy bills of our AC. I have friends in Florida who are also big on ceiling fans. I might screen in the porches if I were you, too. It's nice to sit out in the evenings without being tortured by mosquitoes. 😊😊🙏🙏
Hi Abby.. you already know the answer to your question?.. pull off that piece of molding and put in a new one... you will always wonder and know it's broken if you caulk it.. its looking so pretty !!
Use a soft wet spong in a bucket of water wile caulking to get it smooth and clean up as you go.
How happy she is...😂😂😂😂
Very nice storage Area, you an Jay Have built😊
Looks really good on camera and the room looks huge. Doors are the best. Peace!
On the hinge side you should have mitered the trim on a 45.

No, becaise she wants it to look like a board and batten wall
Also when you have knots and marks that bleed through your paint seal with a clear pine sealer before painting.
I've got my daughters visiting from out of state so I've put off watching this video. You are absolutely glowing Abby with excitement and I'm happy for you.
Try putting a small bevel cut where it’s catching when you open the door.
Yed!!! Looks AMAZINGGGG!!! 🥰🎶❤️📚🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
PG here, Good Job! I love the dimension the faux wall adds to the entire room.
Awesome video Abbey.
Abby, it looks so wonderful!! Im so happy for you!!
You might need to use Kilz to seal the knots. Alcohol base primer.
Great job Abby … your home will be absolutely gorgeous. .. 👍🏼❤️proud of you hun
Hi love your Chanel. Try glueing on the trim with liquid no nails.
When you prime the wood small fibers will stick up and require sanding.
I love it ❤
Put a little caulking behind the trim that is given trouble. Should hold it in place
You should wood glue them before nailing, no screws. Corners would fit if they were beveled, at the end. No more nails !! Each trim , if glued, should only need 3 or 4 , not a dozen. All in tall, the build is looking very nice
Tape each side of caulk and keep your finger wet. When you take tape off you have a nice clean line.
Super nice. Looks beautiful. Love it.
Love it. Beautiful job
Abby Ur Fixer Upper Home Amazing Looks Comfortable Keep Progress
Quick suggestion. You should switch the door the center batton is attached to closest to the bedroom door. That way if you put a bigger piece of furniture on that wall you could still open one door to access storage.
I think you should How stained the doors and jams
Love it!!!!!!
You will have problems with the left inner secret door. The trim piece makes it so you have to open that side first. It will not be functional with a bed against it. In spite of that it all looks fantastic. ❤
I was watching Alexandra Gater and wondering if i was going to see a new Abby video today...and here you are!!
❤😊absolutely gorgeous 😊
Looks great 😊
Prime woodwork first. The wood will need to be sanded after prime coat. Then caulk before finish coat.
Abby, with all the trim and finish work in your future, get small needle nose pliers for removing finish nails. Inexpensive and will be your best friend…..not crowbars or hammers. 😂 So proud of you. Looking amazing. Yes. Regular wall paint in same finish for that wall. Door, window, and baseboard trim in semi-gloss - so much easier to clean. Doesn’t look shiny or “glossy”. Not sure if you have decided on baseboards yet, but highly recommend a tall baseboard - 5” -6”. Would really elevate the space. Ideally something with a small rounded top to deter dust. Anyway, really getting to the fun stuff now. Just know we’re cheering from the sidelines!😂
Looking great 😊
I'd keep the trim and storage spaces the same paint. Your spending twice what you need to by changing up whether it's high or super high gloss.
Looks awesome Abby!
Looks lovely.
If you paint the doors a dark color those gaps will disappear.

OH...she ain't gonna do that...for real
When you nail a narrow piece like that, if you put too many nails in it you increase the chance of splitting the wood. I learned that one time!
Awesome job 👍👍👍
awesome/job
Looks great! I think you are loving that nail gun just a little too much on those trim pieces, especially if you have to remove them.😅. That is how we learn though and helps us remember the next time.
I would love for you to do board and baton all the way areound the room, then it will really be like hidden doors. It wouldnt be that hard actually not like it was making doors. You just attach to drywall. I hope you go for a period appropriate profile on the baseboards. Its looking phenomenal! You need to get a t shirt that says "So Nice"
Always wet your finger when smoothing caulk. And a professional told me wipe one way then wipe opposite.
You should have used a printable wood filler, instead, a chalking eventually shrinks & separates from wood
I couldn’t even notice the cracks before you added the trim. It looked like a shadow to me. I wonder if you put a small board behind the door, almost like a door stop on the top and painted it white if it would minimize the shadow for you.
Are the doors sagging, because of their weight? Maybe a magnetic closure is needed to put them backup in place.
A wet finger is ESSENTIAL. Having a wet cloth makes it easier to cleanup too.
Caulking is not the same as spackling.....put is on and level it off to fill the cracks....no sanding should be necessary...I see you seem to be building up the crack too much so you have to sand over them. Looks like good coverage. Would be a much more finished look when you paint the inside of the doors and walls.
Pliers pull the staples out
It looks great. I was wondering if you should paint the inside of the doors as well. They might absorb moisture at different rates, causing warping.
21:54 Glue the piece of moulding back on.
Use a pliers to pull them out the little nails.
First, I HATE caulking. Good job to you! Are those cicadas in the background noise when you’re up there attaching the trim? None here. Love hearing it!
You need to call the corner on the left side between the closet and the wood wall there's a big gap showing there
I think that if you sand at an angle on the parts of the new trim that catches…they may stop catching.
great
Needless nose pliers to pull nail out.
❤❤❤

I think they are waiting for the floor to be done first…so the moldings will all match up. It will be beautiful!
You need to put the quarter round all around the inside of the doors not just on the top angle miter the corners and make like a picture frame on the inside of the door and that should solve your problem
Put decorative trims on all round door cabin
Let go of the "cracks" it looks great without the "fixes"!
A bead of wood glue on the trim strips would have made them secure and stationary before nailing them in place. 😊
Wood glue and tack it small nails. Pull nails with pliers
Woooooow
Shellac first will stop bleed through!
Why are you not using a roller ?
I'm curious what's going on the bottom of the doors where the trim just seems to stop? Don't quite understand that🤔 You should of just put wood glue on those trim pieces no staples or screws they are so light they don't need heavy duty attaching, plus you could just sand a bit where they bind.
I used high gloss paint and i regretted it. I wish I used Satin or even regular gloss. I think it’s harder to keep clean. I try cleaning and it just gets tacky feeling. It’s especially bad in the bathroom.
Are the floors on the top floor just getting refinished or are you putting new?
How are you going to finish the floors inside your closets?
