I used Allflor from Kelly-Moore and it's held up great so far 4 months. I prepped really well, power washed with a degreaser, then used muriatic acid with a surface cleaner rinsing well. Thinned first gallon with pint of water 2 coats, then 2 coats full body. 2 gallons covered almost 500sq ft.

I would have used muriatic acid and filled the cracks. If all I had was paint I would use at least two coats for a driveway. I have to paint a driveway at a rental in a few weeks. Since it is a rental I'm using paint instead of an epoxy/stone coating. But definitely two coats of paint.

Just wondering if this was a 2 coat job? I've done a few painted sealing jobs and I've always used 1/2 thinners to paint for the first coat which allows the paint to seep into the concrete better and prevents paint peeling. Then the 2nd coat is just paint. Did this end up ok without a thinner mix?

  • @harleygirl4life6

You can make it non slip by adding an aggregate to the paint or to a clear sealer you add over the paint they sell at Home Depot in the paint section by the rust oleum garage paint kits they sell a small bag it almost looks like sand. You don’t need at all to add the entire bag. Too much will make clean up harder but for mine I added a clear finish on the whole thing but on the patio itself up to the car my second coat only had just a bit like a quarter of the bag in the sealer & that did the trick so when it was wait wasn’t slippery.

I agree, I would like to see how it looks now that its been 3 years, I've grinded the floor in my 2 1/2 half car garage and now im going to acid etch it to make sure the paint adheres properly. I was under the impression that you would have to use a primer/sealer after the etch to keep any moisture coming through. Then after the paint, hit it with a clear sealer (Matte or gloss) to protect the actual paint.

looks like he only did one coat... So it's probably not holding up that great, he didn't really seem to fill in the bug holes ( tiny porous holes in concrete ) very well. So unfortunately water is going to get into those holes and eventually expose/get underneath the coating and bubble and eventually crack/peel. Plus, he did no top coat, if he does a "review video" i'd be surprised to see it the exact same... but that being said, at least he cares enough to do this in the first place.

Your driveway project looks very nice! An update on how your driveway looks + performs TODAY, August 2023, would greatly help me with this project, please? I do wonder if my HOA, insufferable, will fine me for Seal Kreting the driveway apron, or even the driveway itself. I propose to clean the concrete well, repair the 4x4' corner where it has spalled, due to landscaper's sprinkler's watering that corner of the driveway for years, and applying SEAL-KRETE in an inconspicuous, clean, attractive color (I'm selling the idea here, just to practice lol) vs. paying to have new slabs poured? That would be QUITE the street mess &, actually, prohibitively expensive. I don't own the driveway; we, the owners, all commonly do. The attached apron should be treated at the same time, so as to blend in with the main driveway; the apron is only about 3 feet deep. Otherwise, the difference will be quite noticeable. I'm on a private, community street, not a municipal street.

that seal krete material you used is the second part of a 3 step process you must use the lockdown seal krete concrete primer first in order to not get peeling then paint it with seal krete concrete paint then last but not least use the seal krete clear seal to seal the paint 👍🏽 i highly doubt it lasted being driven on with your method of doing it
