Painting a Hand. Tips on Color Mixing and Palette Set-Up. Process of Color Application. Demo.
I left a hand unfinished to share the process of color application. Watch me set the palette, pre-mix some skin tones and apply brush strokes to build a naturalistic skin color for the hand. And of course...you will hear all thoughts! lol!

The painting is much better with the eyes looking to her right. This was a good decision.
I don't think there is another artist I follow that inspires me more than you Cesar. Can there be such a thing as tempered passion? Gentle intensity? Quiet thunder? I find your work to be poetry in paint - not just because it is just so beautiful, but because of who you are which shines through. I feel you share your knowledge with little to no ego. That is a beautiful and rare thing. When I watch your videos, these thoughts are what I am always left with. You are in love with art, feel blessed that you have this life in which you create it and that you feel a burning desire to share it with others. It is never, "Look what I can do!". It is always, "Look what has and can be done! And what you can do too!"
You seem to be more knowledgeable and passionate about painting, than others on KZread. Thank you so much for your instructional videos.
That's the beauty of painting like yours. There is a fantasy in it that a photography cannot capture. Thank you for showing and explaining how you mixed your colors. Fantastic!
So happy to see you uploading videos again
It's like a Bouguereau painting 💯
Thanks for sharing. This one made me smile at the end.
I loved how you explained your process. Shows young artist that it's always a process and your work usually evolves. Thank u so much loved this
Cesar, I want to take a moment to thank you. I started painting two years ago and have been watching your videos and tutorials and I so very much appreciate your approach to art. For me, you have such a wonderful balance of the hands on, technical approach, as well as the very important philosophical side of the form. All this to say thank you and I pray every blessing for you and your family.
The face and the skin is unbelievably well done. Beautiful painting!
Beautiful! Sensitive! Mwa-a!! (I am 61 years old and most of my art instructors were jamming ugly, misshapen/unskilled work. I weep for time lost, and the artists that never were!) You are brave. Never change to suit others!
Im such a big admirer of your work, but i do have to say, the way you explain everything in these videos, have taken my admiration to a whole new level. It is always wonderful to know the reasons behind the brushstrokes and you eloquently break this down. Thank you for sharing
Very nice, I love how you show us and explain the mixing of your palette. Thank you. Another beautiful masterpiece.
What a pleasure to watch a Master at work. 👍
You are so poetic when speaking about art, leaves me inspired every time. Great video, thanks for sharing :)
Beautiful work! I found it interesting that you combine your pictures with information from both nature and memory, and it shows. It creates a poetic illusion that one sees in the work of painters like Waterhouse, Leighton, and Bouguereau, among many others. Thanks for sharing this very useful information!
Great.....beautiful.......it was really a new experience to see a young artist painting.........best wishes..........
Cesar, I just love listening to you and watching you create such beautiful works of art. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm with us.

Sir Cesar santos I love your process of painting and and this masterpiece is just awesome.
It's look more natural, previous eyes were looking stressed. This one really going with the mood of the painting 😍

Good painting !
awesome, wow, thanks
Congratulations, very nice work Cesar Santos , you are the best .
Thank you Cesar! Very informative. I still am learning the best ways to organically layer a painting for more "illumination" using various oils such as linseed or stand oil. I'm also currently using the Galkyd method that Donalto taught in one of his videos. You guys are awesome!
I really love this💚
Bravo, maestro!! Another brilliant video!

Nice sweater. I would be afraid to get paint on it. I'm curious what clothes other famous artists have worn in the past. Your art is great!

Damn dude. Well done.
Thank you so much for the lesson
Ud .senor es un pintor muy bueno.Crealo. Mucha suerte.
Close the eyes. To me her hand at the neck is implying she is feeling vulnerable . It makes sense to do what you did also. Very nice feel you have for what you need to do ! Bravo!
Magnificent...
The side-long glance really nails it, with the eyes closed it was like an 8.5 but with the with the side-long glance it's a definite 10; something I would pay money for if I had it. Maybe it's because it adds an element of mystery? It let's the viewer inject their own imagination into it. What is she looking at that could possibly be more interesting than a tornado or a wolf?? P.s. As always Great content! Very helpful as I'm struggling with a hand in one of my paintings lol

She's coyly looking at a man.
Amazing !!! So beautiful, new here and impress.. 🥰
I look up to you my man, one day we’ll do a collab!
Cesar, thanks so much for this great video. The combination of colors and how to make them work is amazing. I love the way you talk about art, I call it true creative, honest passion! Your process is so inspiring. Question: could the colors be substituted with something similar? I have most of the colors, but for practice, is it ok to use a substitute color? Best wishes and much success in everything you do. Blessings, take care and be safe. Thanks for all you do.
Một bức tranh thật thú vị , rất đặc sắc 🥰❤️🔔👍
love American Bluegrass music also.
Just wonder what brand is your palette knife? I've been trying to find a flexible mixing knife like yours, 👍 great video as always

Love it, it's definitely coming together. I am a little thrown off by the light source. Is the tornado the light source? All of the shadows are coming from that direction and the temperature of the background feels bright like outdoors, but the temp of the girl has a warmer studio light look. What do you think?
woow
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Beaultifu👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

OMG! Da Vincci has reincarnated!!!!!!!!!
Interesting to see the use of Griffin by Winsor and Newton. A fast drying paint...
You are born 400 years too late. You would be a classic now.
Dear Cesar, I would like to see the full version of this painting from beginning right to the end, no matter how long it took the painting process. You see I am starting my first portrait painting and I am having trouble with the skin tones - getting the right color combinations to do a baby, my son. I hope you can let me see your whole skin tone mixing, please. Love watching your KZread videos and learning more. Love & Many Blessings, from Annie Queensland AUSTRALIA.

Cesarsantos.com are complete classes!
Thanks for sharing through these videos. Hablas español César Santos?
I love the painting but the only problem I can personally say about it is the story because I did not get the story also I can see a tornedo behind her but her hair looks very calm while it should be fling because of the strong wind
. Muchas gracias
Cesar, do you mix your paint always before you paint? I find it to be another hurdle to the process and dread mixing and only mix while I work. But I'm wondering if I'm missing something, whether it's the experience or the efficiency of having the colors already made?

Do what is comfortable to you!
Be careful, because, from what I read, the lead based colours, combined with cadmiums, will make the mixture get dark with time (darker than normal anyway). Is a kind of bed chemical reaction between them.
