Also for future reference, grab some Vicks vapor rub and put it under your nose. I worked in nursing for years and that was one of the best tricks I learnt for bad smells.

Good idea. I don't much like Vicks either but it has to be better than the primer. I will be doing it outside in future and may even get out the "good" mask that I used to use for spray painting at my last job...I just hate masks. All sorts of sensory issues (same with gloves).
