@studiophotographyworkshops Wow, I am really impressed and moved so deeply, you can't even imagine. Your technique, your creativity, your ingenuity to even remove or disappear annoying hairs, is truly amazing. I believe, being a middle-aged man, that one of my biggest mistakes in my life was not having studied graphic design and entering the world of Fine Art, which really fascinates me. But, well, why complain? I guess it's too late, especially since I have serious problems with my eyes. There are times I participate in a tutorial that provides you with the image they use, because I assume it is copyright-free. In your case, that beautiful girl, I assume it is an image from your Photography Studio, is it impossible for you to share that image? I say just to be able to practice, it is not for any other purpose. I am subscribed, I have the bell activated to receive notifications every time I publish a new video. You have my "Like" which is number 395. Whatever, #Congratulations because you are truly #wonderful, #oustanding, #gorgeous and #supertalented and #creative. With respectful affection. Fabian

Nice tutorial, but I would work more non-destructively and not merge layers all the time. No turning back when you merge.

That’s why you save before you merge. Then save the merge a different name… and so on…

@@BokushingusKendoTV Sounds like a lot of work and a lot of files. Non-destructive editing would be a much better solution.

@@edmundhayes7982 it’s not bad. I have been using PS this way for years. Unfortunately, most of PS is not nondestructive. However, the good part is it’s very easy to go back to a certain stage of your editing. My process 1) white balance with tag as WB 2) freq separation. = fS 3) grey layer D&B = GDB 4) color grade = CG 5) local D&B = LDB 6) final touch = FT 7) i save as complete! After a week, i delete all the extra and keep the complete. But yeah for fine art editing, commercial beauty? I need PS

Came here to say that, non destructive editing also helps in explanation and allows for a before and after.

I teach both destructive and non destructive. If your learning photoshop for first time it can be easier to learn this way first then get around layers after. Personal preference and depends on the learner. Most my other videos are non destructive but I flatten at end as no point for me keeping larger tiff files with all layers when as a professional I should so much and storage is through the roof and I personally never need to go back to change correct or alter. Some projects warrant it others do not.

Hi what does the grey layer do please?

  • @studiophotographyworkshops

The 50% grey layer on soft light setting has no effect until you use the dodge and burn tool then it will lighten or darken the effect on the background layer. It's to use for contour, shading and increasing contrast in specific areas of your image
