I went to a woodcarver meeting for the first time. Everyone was talking Doug this and Doug that. I said who is Doug? Doug Linker, they said. I told them I watch you on KZread all the time. You've got quite a fan base.

Looking forward to carving and painting these for fall craft fairs
I like the painting videos. I learn a lot from you, your techniques and appreciate your narrative.
For those of us who can't find Doug's Terra Nova NaturOil where you live, from what i can work out based on the clear colour and label, i think white food grade mineral oil used on butchers blocks or cutting boards etc should do the same trick. 🙂
I like the fact your always changing it up. I love the painting part.
Very nice Doug thanks for sharing! 😎😎😎🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯👍👍👍
Your painting vids are never boring Doug....always learn something new...👍🏻🇦🇺
something about your style i just love. your videos are what got me into carving. wish i could show you the drastic improvement from my 1st to the 2nd.
I'm sure the puppy is happy it has passed! Sounded very rumbly!
Painting made the hobo , pop !!! Well done !!!
Doug that's awesome 😎 5:00 shadow,, love it. Great idea, I learned something new today, thank you
Really like how it turned out. Great carving. Peace and good fortune and good health to you and your family. 😃
Great painting tutorial Doug! Because I don't like the smell of the boiled linseed oil and it's risk involved, I have been using transparent cuttingboard oil, from IKEA. It works for me. Great idea with the ice pick and the whiskers!!

most cutting board oil is mineral oil which you can buy cheaper at a drugstore (used as a laxative)
Another fantastic video!! Thank You!!
Really enjoyed the video and learned some things. Looking forward to the next one. Thanks for sharing!
Love the wooden marionette on the top shelf, at least that's what it looks like. If you had all your wood carvings on DVD I would buy them , I'm having so much fun wood carving. 🌻

Thanks!
People should NOT skip this video! Thanks Doug!
Liked the tree carving update at end of last vid 💚🇬🇧🌱
That's Dougie cool cool
Outstanding! Very nice painting! I agree with the shiny paint, I now only buy matte craft paints!
Loved how the 5 o’clock shadow popped the personality
I too am constantly trying new things and learning from other carvers. I enjoy the painting as much as the carving. Comparing my early painting to what I do today is like day and night. Experience is a great teacher! Another great video Doug.
Thanks Doug for another great video -- a lot of great tips and insights as always. Keep them coming. All the best to you and your family.
Thanks 👍 :)
You make this look so easy that it makes me want to start carving again however I've lost most of the feeling and use of one hand and haven't figured out how I can do it but if I can I will be giving another go at it. Thanks to your videos and thanks for showing the tips on painting the carvings.
Great video and project Doug. Thanks for taking the time to show us how you make your carvings look so good.
I loved this painting video!! Thanks Doug!😊
Fantastic learning a new paint technique thanks Doug
Thanks for sharing your painting technique!
Thanks Doug. Love the shading and your pumpkin guy.
Well done Doug......enjoyed very much
Clever way of shadowing thanks doug 😊
Thank you! I use your paint techniques on my hand poured and painted concrete pieces.
Thanks Doug, I have learned a lot of new things about painting and finishing a carving. Appreciate you.
Keep them coming!
Doug I used linseed oil for years but really didn’t like using it. This oil you have now I find best kind. I’ve been using it for 3-4 yrs and it’s perfect to use before painting in my opinion

I wanted to try something different, so I ordered 8oz of the Terra Nova. It just came yesterday right after I had completed my first Hobo Pumkin so I will wait to use it on my next piece. Thank you for the tip Kevin and Doug.
I really enjoy the painting videos… I’ve learned so much from you in both carving and painting….
You're videos are relaxing and inspiring! Thank you so much. This is another that I'll try soon.

Thank you Doug.
Great tips Doug. Will be looking for some of the products mentioned.
Very enjoyable video, it's great to see how to paint and finish a figure as it certainly makes a difference to the end product.
Thank you! Great videos!
Doug, appreciate the painting content very much. Just getting into carving myself, started with your 📚 idea. Haven't tried painting yet but will soon.
very neat like it a lot
I'm sure that's Boris Johnson aka Bojo. Also known as other names 😊 So pleased to see new videos! X
Great job 👍👍
Very interestiVery interesting ! I love raw wood, but with color, it gives much more character!
Thank you!
Doug, I see Howard’s makes a cutting board oil, was wondering if had tried that. Thanks for the painting video.
Well done. I enjoyed listening to you and learning. When u mentioned JD name I thought " I know him" lol. Ty
He really is the Bob Ross of carving.
I use the Howard wax love it
I just got and 1984 Honda goldwing. I can't wait to take a road trip to Erie and carve by the lake then ride home
You da man!!!!!!!👍
Hey doug. Enjoy your videos! I have been useing the tera nova naturoil for a couple years. Not sticky or stinky like linseed👍food grade Need a couple coats tho.. And then a couple more coats😎
Great face dough have you done one with it's tongue out lol
Thanks Doug, you are an inspiration. do you have any tips on "speeding up" the carving process? thanks again for all your tutorials.
👍👍👍
Not boring at all, always good to relearn old things anew. The ring light magnifying set up do you use it for carving?
'the storm is over. there was no hail.'--- Omg. my OCD thanks you! #closure
Brilliant, thank you for that, especially the shadowing. Any chance of helping us with what to use to soften wood for carving, please? Everyone keeps being jealous of you as it looks like you're carving butter!
Curious as to how much burnt umber oil tube paint you add to how much BLO. Thank you
Have you tried Mineral Oil? I believe it will remain clear and it is less expensive.
Do you know where to get good quality carving tools, like V-tools, that are not overly expensive?
Can you list the colors of paints you use when you get a chance. Thanks
Doug have you tried Walnut Oil?
could I just use any kinda oil? or does it have to be a specific kind or quality?
Is olive oil works?
I'm a watercolour and oil painter, I'm just about to start the wood carving journey, albeit with a Swiss Army knife to begin with. What paint are you using? Is ir acryllic?

@@dougLinker Roger that. Thanks.
Hey Doug, I know you probably wont answer this question and I might have to wait for the next "Live w/Doug + Sophie", but isn't the Terra Nova NaturOil essentially food grade mineral oil? I just picked up a bottle of Howard Cutting Board oil, who also makes the Howard Feed-N-Wax. It was $10.97 (US dollars) for a 12 oz. bottle on eBay. It says on the bottle that it is food grade mineral oil enriched with vitamin E. This would be the same as the Terra Nova stuff, eh?

Definately should be safe to try as long as there is no wax it may be good

@@dougLinker now I feel special that you answered me! LOL! Yup, no wax in it. Thanks Doug!
Have you tired tinting the Naturoil?
Can one use Beeswax in place of oil?
@dougLinker
Жыл бұрын
Noooooooo! Don’t do it -you can never paint over a wax
I don’t care for BLO and this natur oil doesn’t seem to readily available where it m at. Just wondering if you ever tried just mineral oil as a base? Or if there’s a reason it shouldn’t be used.
definitely a striking resemblance to a certain former US president 💚🇬🇧🌱 is he a hobo now? That would be 🤣😂🤣😂
Yeah Kevin coats is a brilliant carver , but you can't send him coffee.
Didn’t he used to be the British PM?
These guys remind me of the orange monster troubling American democracy at the moment.
Thanks!
