Cheers, I did struggle to find a video on painting a Vietnam figure so Shared how I did it. I saw your channel from Instagram, never built anything at that scale, but that Sherman is something else.

@@biznello1 what I do is drill small hole in sole of boot, then use wire, like a paper clip to push into cork and into hole. Add supa glue aswell to the sole.

I think with the figures you did you swapped the colors around. I would go with the color you used for the vest on the uniform blouse and trousers and the color you used on the uniform going on the vest and the canvas portion of the jungle boots. What paint did you use on the vest anyways?

Hi from memory I decided to use Vallejo Hemp, think its from the Air War series SEA. I will try what you suggest next time I build a Vietnam kit from the stash.👍

There uniform were a light green colour ,he has it right.

@@kevinbrum9940 but not that light a green. It might work for the boots but not the OG107's the Marines wore. OG107 was more of a Olive drab 7 shade which would be a Vallejo Hemp for new uniforms with a little white added to make a used faded uniform set. I actually own a unissued OG507 uniform trousers which are a similar shade to OG107 uniforms and the Vallejo hemp matches exactly.

@@michaelbenjmitchell1 yes but they are new,in the photos you often see much lighter cloth,o and btw ive just converted some us troops to ANZAC and they have a really strange shade of green lol. I must admit though that the olive colours given to modellers isn't very good and i have to mix to get what i need.

@@kevinbrum9940 If you look at the body armor on his figure it's the correct faded OD shade on OG107 uniforms. That green shade he is using screams more here I am shoot me. LOL

Hi, your comment that makes it worth having the channel. I post stuff I have struggled to find ie what colour for an M48 tank. I like to do enough so its a decent standard but in the end tells the story I want. Thx again

How do you dilute the oil paint?? Later to remove it, do you moist the cotton stick with thinner or water??? Thanks for the video... I’ll use it in a Vietnam project I’m working on

Hi thanks for the comment. On the flak jacket I think I used Agrax earth shade, it is water based so I tend not to be able to remove it. I just go over highlighting areas again with a lighter base colour. With oils I use an AK enamel thinner, some thinners can be too strong and take the base colour away. To remove a wash yes you use just a moist( not to much) damp paper towel or cotton bud.This help? I too am making another vietnam dio, for a M551Sheridan. Take a look at it on my insta page. Cheers.

What was the green color you mixed for the helmet?

Hi, thanks for watching the base colour of the helmet is a a mix of vallejo afrika korps and brown sand (this makes it look sun faded). The important thing about the helmet is the pattern. Use what greens you have but fade them. Hope this helps

@@ctscalemodellinguk The ERDL pattern is somewhat on the lightish side anyways on the helmets but it would be more than sun faded the wet jungle environment also helps with fading too as it also affects the dyes used in making the ERDL pattern as well as the OD green fabric on the cover.

I like the way you laid shadow on skin better than my method of paint brush

@@ctscalemodellinguk no probs the thing is with the way you did you shadows means that all the creases, especially the hands,will automatically get shadow detail ,which if your only using a brush is near on impossible. Great job.
