    I love how he brought the red to life. I think that, since purple is the mix of red and blue, he exposed the red inside the color purple by canceling the blue with the opposite color: orange.

    We’re taught in school that nothing can make a primary color, but those rules never applied to painting much because the rules we’re can be bent depending upon how you’re trying to make colors and which colors you’re actually starting from. Seeing this here I know it works, but I didn’t understand the why to be able to ever be able apply it in other areas of painting/Art. I’m embarrassed to say that after going to college majoring Studio Art and years of trying to understand the color wheel on my own (with the rules I was taught in school stuck in my head and surprisingly never actually taught this in college) and never being able to get it, this made it finally click for me having the ‘why’ it works explained! Thank you!

    This relies more on the use of green as a complimentary colour of red to trick your eyes into thinking it is redder than it actually is. Isolated, that is more of a orangey brown than true red.

    Can I comment here, 'My father" comment is correct, check the color wheel, Primary are Red, Blue and Yellow. Cyan, Magenta and Yellow are for "printing" its called CMYK - K is black, Magenta is in the Violet family, check the color wheel, its between Alizarin (10RP) and Manganese Violet (10P), Magenta is 5RP ( Red Purple), Alizarin is 10RP, Manganese is 10P, now Cad Red or Red like Indian Red are 5R. So it makes Cad Red, Naphthol, Indian Red 5R. Check Gamblin and Williamsburg color chart, they put the HUE value, Oxide Red is 10R, so if you mix Alizarin (10RP) with Oxide Red (10R) you will have 5R, same as Magenta (5RP) plus Cad Orange or Transparent Orange (5YR) will make 5YR, and 2. parts Violet + 3 parts Orange can make a good Red between 5R or 7.5R (Red Light) and equal parts of Violet and Orange can make 10RP or Alizarin. Manganese Violet (10P) + Earth Yellow or Yellow Deep can make 5R also. Hope this helps! Make note some manufacturing has slightly different hue values. Thanks

    You cant make a PURE primary color . You can make a "muddy" version easily. Also a lot of artists use a "split primary" pallete, which has a cool red (magenta), a warm red, a cool blue (cyan), a warm blue, and a cool and warm yellow.

  • @BlackMai85

    @BlackMai85

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@828burke thats not really true. If you mix colors and they're muddy maybe you have all three colors mixed. For example if you mix a cold red with a warm blue it will be muddy. You can mix a cold red with a cold blue and can get a real good color. But you can never mix a yellow also not muddy without yellow and the same for the other colors 🤷‍♀️

  • @828burke

    @828burke

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@BlackMai85 Thats the whole point. You never have a pure color. You can have 99% blue with 1% yellow, a "cool" blue, which mixes well with a yellow thats 1% yellow, a "cool" yellow. The split primary pallete acknowledges this and uses it to mix the brightest colors (and to mute out colors consistently). When you mix two secondary colors to get a primary, you have mostly that primary, and the other two primaries make it "muddy".

    I mean, we know you can make blue without using blue. Just look at zorn’s 4 color palette. This is just a variation of it playing with warmness and coolness for illusory effect to accentuate the feeling of a non existent color as if it where there in the artwork. So i like this video alot 👏

    So interesting! It must work, because there is actually red in (inside) the orange and the purple? And because, obviously, primary red would require a lot of mixing to bring it to realistic colors for a watermelon? Mixing which would bring you back around to the oranges and purples that you started with! Bravo. I learned something new! 😁👍

    no, red is a secondary colour mixed from magenta and yellow. the purple is a magenta leaning purple, rather than a cyan leaning purple. That is why it works.

    there also is the optical illusion of the green making the red seem brighter, but that's not optical mixing. Optical mixing is what happens on your monitor screen with the red green and blue dots of varying intensities. Red green and blue are primaries in additive mixing and only works by mixing light.

    Tu canal es una puta maravilla señor, no lo digo solo por decirlo, también hasta cierto grado soy dibujante y pintor, y de hecho en youtube hay muchos representantes del estilo artístico un poco más tirando a moderno y ya si hablamos de los digitales, ni te cuento, pero tú transmites la calidez y calidad que solo he logrado sentir en el arte de épocas anteriores. Aunque solo pintes un pedacito de sandía, tiene más personalidad que muchos canales completos de arte de toda la plataforma.
