    Hi guys, I just want to mention that this video is older, it pertains more to straight pour technique, not so much my puddle pour or thin paint techniques. I just don’t want any confusion. I also never use glue anymore… LOL MIX is a great product to thicken paints.

    I did a search on your channel, do you have a more recent video of your mixes? What do you use in place of Glue to thicken paint instead of Glue now?

    @@praschclan6692 She mentions in the video that she uses Golden’s GAC800 and Floetrol. There is also Liquitex pouring medium and Artsist Loft also has one. I recommend 1/4 part paint, 2/4ths part pouring medium and 1/4 part water. And adjust that to the consistency you are wanting.

    This was so informative-thank you! Would you say roughly 75% floetrol to 25% artists loft medium is in your squeezing bottle? Secondly, I wanted to make a deep blue (almost Navy) for a painting. Have you ever mixed Payne’s grey with a blue?

I don’t like to add a lot of things like glue because it doesn’t really dry crystal clear, so I prefer gloss medium to thicken my paints. Thank you fir your beautiful art and for sharing with us. Hi Sara! Thank you for all your information. It's very generous of you. You had mentioned using Blick acrylics. Do you use the student grade or the studio grade? I'd like to try it, but am hoping to save a little money if the product is just not of good quality for pour painting. Also have you by chance tried Sennelier Abstract acrylic paint? They sell it at Trekell Professional Art Supplies and it seems like a good price. Trekell is a quality company so I'm assuming the paint is good, but again, I'm checking with other artists first to see what their experience is first. Thanks again for your generosity. I took Sarah Mack's recommendation to check out your channel. So glad I did! Cheers!!! TO

    Wonderful to watch you work, even mixing paints! I'm really curious about GAC 800. Does it help to thicken paints also? But my main question is, "When pouring layered paints from a cup, how do you keep them from mixing and giving a muddy result.?" I've all but given up on straight pours, circle pours, wandering pours, etc. Any suggestions? Hopeful, Gail

  • @SaraTaylor

    @SaraTaylor

    Жыл бұрын

    The JC 800 actually will likely send your paint a bit, it’s used to help with any cracking or crazing, it’s just a very high-quality binder medium for acrylics. One tip when layering a cup is to add a very thin layer of either white or black in between your colors, that will help them from mixing too much together and getting muddy. Also try to keep your consistency is as close to the same as possible.

    Hi Carol, I just realized I didn’t respond to this question. On my art tutorials I try to hold the paint up to the camera while I’m going through with the colors are so you can see the consistency. I’m hoping it’s helpful and you can see a bit about with the paint is doing in the cup before I pour. Don’t hesitate with more questions :-)

    Hey Sara, I am your big fan 🤗I have a question, when you mix darker base coat, are you use 2 parts of floetrol and 2 parts of color? Thanks for sharing. Krystyna

    Hi Sara! I'm new to your channel and I love your work and ideas. Quick question... in this video you show the Floetrol/GAC800 mixture bottle, but say you fill up to the line with Floetrol first and then the remainder of the bottle with GAC800. But from the way it's written on the bottle, I'm wondering if you said that in reverse because GAC800 is written below the line and Floetrol is above the line. Would you mind verifying which one is correct, please?

    Can I use Liquidtex pouring medium instead of GAC800?

    Hi Sara just watched your mixing video and you mentioned Golden Fluid Medium. It is so costly if you were to buy just four bottles which four colours would you recommend to start with for mixing with other paints? Thanks

    Hi Lynn, a little goes a long way with that product! I would get Prussian blue, turquoise, nickel azo gold.... And depending on what other colors you really like… There’s so many! The iridescent gold is amazing as well. I hope this helps, it definitely depends on taste, but those are some of my favorites.

    @@SaraTaylor thanks Sara I like blues and neutrals including golds. I never liked greens till I saw Rinske Douna do a green one just recently then a grey one with green... oh it was beautiful! Thanks for the suggestions- I will buy when on sale which isn’t very often here. Liquitex is the major “quality” paint that gets on special here. Look forward to your next video
