Great vid. Love the Batman style lettering over video. I just made a mess pouring paint. Huh? I did like another vid suggested. But I used very narrow tape. Ooopps. NOW I know to use wider tape. Thank you again.

yeah it actually works for sure. if the edge has paint on it sometimes that can cause the tape to not stick, but if that happens just a dry wipe before you tape and you're good!

Thanks a bunch for this tip, JBo. This will save me a ton of time! i have learned that it is very important to clean the groove of the can before putting the lid back on and I usually use paper towel folded into a v-shape. I also pour from the front of the can so if there are drips they will not cover instructions. Your method should take care of both.

I DO put nail holes in the rim of the can so the paint flows back in. THAT is clever, too! 😉 STAY WELL! I feel like I’m living in a TWILIGHT ZONE episode... without the cool music!

The excess tape where they cross, fold them in creating a pointy triangle. This will funnel the pour towards the pointy spout 😊

my grandpa did the same thing!!

i tried this from memory and learned the hard way... you need very sticky tape and you need to stick it to the inside rim very well. my attempt at this resulted in a rim-full of paint, so make sure you get a good seal on that inside rim.

@@SheilaSpencer1 i recommend the yellow plastic thing you get at the HomeDepot paint counter. Kind of pricey ($1.20) for what it is, but well worth it. It takes some learning to get it on the inside rim properly. Be sure to wash immediately after using, especially inside the groove that attaches to the can. I like to squegee it with my finger before I remove it to get the residual paint back into the can. But its way better than this tape trick.

Great tip! You could improve this by folding the tape under itself where the paint runs down (make a sharp corner). It seemed like the paint had a tendency to flow towards the tips of the 'X'.

mmikkone ya for sure... folding it to more of a V rather than an X and even pinching a crease in it so it resembles a spout on a juice jug I’ve since realized is a bit better. Thanks for the tip, maybe I’ll update the vid one day... or actually maybe I should just add it to the description! Thanks a lot!!
