Paint a Whimsical French Street Scene - Learn Easy Watercolor Brush Sketching with me!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Capture the Mood of France and paint this little sketch of a row of typical French shops. Add your own whimsical touches like I did, by putting in animals, people and features like bikes and scooters - the sky’s the limit! Keep the painting free and easy by painting the main parts first, once you’ve sketched the outlines, and then finish off with details using brush pens and a Tombow calligraphy pen. Such fun!

Love painting with you so fun
Yes, that is why I started drawing and painting not so long ago…because of all the chaos and lies from the media that is pushed on us. Art is great therapy. Thank you Diane for sharing your art. I love watercolor painting and I’m learning a lot from you. I also paint rocks with acrylic paints and give them all away. It’s my way of giving out a bit of joy to others. ♥️
Diane, everything about this tutorial is charming. I love when you mentioned having gardens in front of houses or shops. For years now, although I live in a small cottage, I have enjoyed a front yard garden where I plant tomatoes, zucchini, carrots, herbs, and lots of flowers. My sunflowers are now towering over me at 10 feet high and growing. The birds love it all and so do the neighbors. It began because the sun was far better in my front yard than my backyard, and now, it has evolved to a great conversation piece offering a warm and welcoming place to gather. This painting is so vibrant and happy and I love the way you sketched out the bistro table and lamp on the side of the building. I've learned a lot about sketching and painting from you, and what I love, is that I continue to learn with each one of your tutorials. When I watched you sketch the table, I thought to myself, wow....Diane used only lines (which I can do) and created a whimsical bistro table. Same thing for the lamp. I'm learning that drawing really is about connecting various shapes. Thank you for a fun morning chat, as always. xo

I came from from a two month trip to Croatia to visit my mother-in-law. Land is used for gardens in the front yard or anywhere there is enough sun to grow plants. In my Maryland neighborhood a vegetable garden was planted in the front/side yard. The neighbors didn’t like having a garden next to the street - but it didn’t bother me after spending time in Croatia.

We had to pull out a large area of grass this year and decided to plant a garden. Although we don’t have any experience my husband is growing corn tomatoes, onions, zucchini and yellow squash, bell peppers, green beans, carrots and strawberries! It’s not a lot of each but we are having fun. It’s just off the patio so it’s the first thing you see! Who cares. Everyone is amazed

Diane, you have the most fun, yet instructional videos. I love painting with your videos. I love that it’s forgiving and whimsical. I took my first art classes from a local Chinese artist over 60 years ago but it never went any further. About 4 years ago my daughter introduced me to instructional painting videos in acrylics and I’ve really enjoyed taking them and growing as an artist. But I wanted to also use watercolors for fun. Your vide are my favorites. Thank you for sharing your talents with us . By the way you have ruined my vision of France!!!😅

I've been in a rut. This painting is is hopefully getting me out of that rut and painting again. I love the pastel colors and the pen and ink. Since I found out my grandmother's family came from France. I'm loving all the old French villages.

Another great one Diane. 👍👍
I absolutely love your carefree style - both with the painting, sketching, and the commentary! These colorful scenes with the houses or buildings are really attracting me recently; I haven't attempted one just yet. This inspires me! I have never been to France (or Europe, for that matter). In the states there are definitely paved-over, concrete jungle areas, but there are also "old town" areas in many cities, especially the smaller ones, where one might find quaint boutiques, cafés, shops and bistros that might be homes with storefronts or homes that have been converted, and these will have gardens in front. They are always so enjoyable and relaxing to peruse! Thank you for this!!
I love everything about this. So colorful and free. I'm working on mine and will post later.

Thanks a lot Patricia, thanks very much for sharing! I think I might go and have a look at some of those videos too - do you have any suggestions? I think when I think of France, those are the kinds of images I have in my mind, going back to the days when we used to bring the children here when they were small on holiday and France was something special and different and beautiful. Which is the way I want to remember it and to depict it in my paintings. With grass in front of the buildings!

This painting is SO delightful! Amazing! Diane, there isn’t much that is solid anymore…everything is changing rapidly…and there is SO much we don’t like at all! We are definitely coming to the end of time…as we have known it…time had a beginning in history and now we are getting extremely close to the very end of time! I would lovingly encourage you to read your Bible… World changes, people changing, government has become ugly, our values, principles, morals, de-valuing human life, wrong becomes right, evil becomes a good thing, rampant use of lying, deceit, dishonesty, lack of respect, tampering with peoples’ lives in whatever form it comes, no more medical privacy, forced to do things that are strongly contrary to our personal convictions, loss of our freedoms, children being targeted in evil ways, chemical trails messing up our air, food supplies are having negative content placed within them, I could do on and on….. The Only Thing that will Never Change in all of this darkness is the Absolute Fact that The One True Living Almighty God will NEVER CHANGE! He is the Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever! He is Truth…He is Love…but He is also The Almighty God of Justice! No debate there! This might sound too questionable to you…but it The Truth! Everything that the Bible…Gods’ Word…says, will be exactly as it says! Jesus Christ is coming real soon and we SO need to be ready and prepared for the Rapture of the true believers when He comes! Almighty God IS Almighty God! And He will do exactly what He has chosen to do…He is absolutely In Control of this world! And yes, we are in an incredibly powerful spiritual warfare/battle…between good and evil… Satan is trying his hardest to win…but he won’t! God Almighty will win…and He will deal with the enemy! For Eternity! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I love you, Diane…please choose to give your heart and your whole life to Almighty God!
