Paint a Simple Still Life in Watercolor [ Step by Step Tutorial - Painting a Pear]

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, I demonstrate how to paint a simple still life in watercolor. My recommendation to beginners in watercolor is to start with simple compositions - like a still life - rather than complex subjects. I paint a vibrant painting of a pear in watercolor and teach basic watercolor techniques in this step by step tutorial. #stilllife #watercolor #beginners
I use just four colors in this painting:
Green Gold - amzn.to/35qJ1iW
Ultramarine Blue - amzn.to/35HVdMz
Quinacridone Burnt Orange - amzn.to/3i0VMWI
Moonglow - amzn.to/38uJi6v
All colors are by Daniel Smith
I used a copyright free reference image from Unsplash.com. You can find it here: unsplash.com/photos/bLPjs4Kw9JU Thanks to Moritz Kindler for this beautiful photograph of a pear.

That was great. As a beginner I really need to pump the brakes and concentrate on the fundamentals, just like this. I subscribed.

Thank you so much. I used Daniel Smith Green Gold for the body of the pear. It is such a brilliant color. Thanks for watching!

I was inspired by your demonstration! It's an interesting concept to paint according to a value structure rather than entirely by hue. I painted this yesterday following your process. I don't have your colors - which are lovely! - but I came up with my approximations. I used Sodalite Genuine for the background because that's what I have, but I may have to get Moonglow...

Thank you so much for the feedback. I was once told by an art teacher - "Color gets the credit....but value does all the work." I try to always keep that in mind as I paint. Value is what gives the subject shape and form. :-) Thanks for watching.

Isn't Moonglow fugitive? Is there something similar that could be used that isn't fugitive?

One of the pigments in Moonglow is considered fugitive. I have a video that shows you how to make your own....if your interested. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pY6HmJOJhc-aj5s.html
