Since bmp2m doesn't have premium status (squadron vehicle) it has huge penalties for research more than one rank above or below it. I'm assuming the ww2 su td is too low of a br/rank to get effective research. It's shown on the stat card when you hover over it. Only premiums can effectively grind any rank below them.
