Can we stop claiming that birth is ‘pain free’ please? Thanks

If you are about to become a new mom and want to birth naturally. I just want to say as someone who has experienced natural labor. It is in fact VERY painful. It is not painless. But that incredible pain can be turned into something and that is powerful. You can focus all of that pain, but please know that it is still very painful and saying it’s not is a disservice to those who have yet to experience it. The pain is a good thing, your body is doing it’s job. Pain is okay and welcomed.

To those saying it isn't possible, I have experienced pain-free birth. I wasn't numb. It was full body. But it didn't hurt. It felt like power moving through me.

Birth is NEVER pain free. It hurts , bad. Lol

Unrealistic expectations set for women. Selling this experience really feels like deception.

I've had 6 pain-free births, all under 30 minutes of active labor. 4 were unassisted at home. I absolutely love labor and birth, it's so calming and rewarding.

I’m telling you girl-you and your sister are rockstars with baby birthing!

Can I ask why all the moaning if this was completely pain free?

Had my first baby on May 11 and love watching how different everyone's experience is with birth. I gave birth in a hospital and had the most peaceful birth experience I could ask for. One of the nurses even lead everyone in the room in a meditation in between my contractions and we were all prayed over during the whole thing. Just wanted to say that not all hospital births are traumatizing 😊

I've been obsessed with pregnancy and birth since I was 6 years old. I've given birth to 10 full term babies, including one as a surrogate.

I’m currently 9 weeks pregnant with my 2nd (my son is almost 15) . . . And wanting to do things so differently this time. I’m amazed at your strength but also how little blood/trauma goes along with this….it looks so healthy and peaceful. Thank you for showing this and congrats he’s beautiful.

So wonderful. I am a midwife in Australia and it truly brings my soul so much joy to see women empowered by birth. I love what you said about the subconscious mind, I teach Calmbirth which is an Australian childbirth program with some similarities to hypnobirthing but we start by learning about how to change our subconscious beliefs about birth. That's the most important part I think!
