Here are some of the things to do in Paignton
Goodrington Sands: Bask in the golden sands of this expansive, two-mile beach, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, building sandcastles, or simply soaking up the sunshine. Explore the rock pools teeming with marine life or enjoy various water sports activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, and surfing.
Paignton Beach: This charming beach, located right next to the pier, offers a variety of amenities including deckchairs, sun loungers, and toilets. Relax on the soft sands, take a dip in the refreshing waters, or enjoy a leisurely stroll along the scenic promenade.
Splashdown Quaywest: Create unforgettable memories with a thrilling day at Splashdown Quaywest, one of the UK's largest water parks. Experience heart-pounding rides, relaxing floats down the lazy river, or take a dip in the wave pool.
Paignton Pier: No trip to the seaside is complete without a visit to the pier. Paignton Pier boasts a variety of amusements and arcades to entertain visitors of all ages. Take a ride on the carousel, test your skills in the arcade games, grab a delicious ice cream, or simply marvel at the panoramic coastal views.
Paignton Zoo Environmental Park: Encounter a diverse range of animals from around the world at Paignton Zoo Environmental Park. Walk through the recreated rainforest habitat, marvel at majestic big cats, and learn about the zoo's vital conservation efforts.
Geoplay Park: Unleash your inner child at the Geoplay Park, a fun-filled outdoor play area featuring climbing frames, slides, swings, and a splash pad. Perfect for a day of family fun and entertainment.
Palace Theatre: Immerse yourself in the magic of live performances at the Palace Theatre. This historic theater stages a diverse program of shows throughout the year, from captivating plays and musicals to live concerts and comedy acts.
Dartmouth Steam Railway: Take a nostalgic journey through the stunning South Devon countryside aboard the Dartmouth Steam Railway. Climb aboard a vintage steam train and admire the picturesque scenery as you travel between Paignton and Kingswear.

Fabulous video . Takes me back. My first visit was as an eight year old in 1963 and I thought it was a wonderful place. I'd been to Brid a couple of times and Blackpool, but Paignton was so much more exciting. Travelling down through the night, was wonderful. No motorways in those days, so you're looking at 10 to 12 hours. The second time we went, in 1965, we went overnight again, but by train from Sheffield Midland, as it was then. Again so exciting to me, sleeping on a train. The last time I went was in 1992 and as I am 70 next year, I think it's time to go back, go back and remember those wonderful times, when life was so very different. Thank you for sharing this with us Neil.

I like your videos with the explanations via subtitles. And I like the coast and (I'm German) I've also been to Paignton, Swanage, Torquay, the coast in Dorset and Devon in the south. I liked it a lot. Of course (please don't be angry) it's not like in the Marple movies with Joan Hickson or Midsomer Murders. Everything changes, here as well. You're doing an excellent job and I'm very grateful to be able to watch.

We spent many happy holidays in Paignton when the family was young, used to catch the steam train up to Dartmouth. I well remember the fish and chip shop you went past, down the side road used to be a small precinct with benches in the middle, we had bought the last three pieces of fish as it was the end of the lunchtime opening, sat down to enjoy the delicious fish and chips which smelt wonderful, when suddenly a loud scream from my daughter who was about seven or eight at the time pointed to a bloody great seagull making off with her fish in it's beak, she was inconsolable, so I gave her my fish, which she guarded and ate like she had never eaten before, while I enjoyed a tray of chips, my wife kept looking at me with that look of, don't think for a moment that you're having any of mine.....being a dad eh?

She and I lived and loved in South London. There was just her and mother. They pulled up sticks and moved to Paignton in February 1957. Two heartbroken teenagers separated by two hundred miles. Three weeks later £3.15p from Paddington. When you alighted from the train and looked from the level crossing you could see the sea, walk down the middle of the road as there were so few cars and there was the beach. Now they have put that god awful stack of bricks on the front and virtually ruined the town. Paignton was a garden which really and truly is now a jungle. At eighty five years old we still yearn for the Paignton of those days and our lost youth.

@@alanturner9609 Like you I fondly look back at my youth and the one thing I get from it is, at least we did it, we lived through the best of times, we had the best music, the most freedom and fun. I look at my daughter now, and young people in general and they are nearly all stressed out and miserable with what they see as the weight of the world on their shoulders, I never ever felt like that back then, just loving life and of course not being attached to a bloody phone wondering if someone likes my picture or comment. I had a camera and took pictures of other people nowadays it's compulsory to take them of yourself pouting and posing. Alan, be grateful we had those years and can still remember them. Take care mate.

Paignton is a thorn between two roses. I'm sure it was great in it's early days like many British seaside resorts but unfortunately the best part of Paignton now is when you drive out the other end.

another dying seaside town, incredibly high rates of homelessness now compared to 20 years ago, severe drug problems across torbay and shops boarded up everywhere, Toorquay has degraded even worse than paignton unfortunately, i do highly recommend the steam train to kingswear and ferry to dartmouth (theres a nice retro sweetshop there)
