Pages from Ceefax | 24 May 1984
From the www.transdiffusion.org/ archives...
Spend some time kicking back with some jolly music and the latest news and programme information from the BBC. "Journey into the Shadows" about artist Gwen John is coming up; the golf is at Wentworth; Huw Wheldon has a D-Day anniversary programme; there are two Doctor Who exhibitions on, at Longleat House (40p) and Blackpool (60p); meanwhile the main news is the Abbeystead Pumping Station Disaster in Lancashire en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbeyst... which gets two pages; and the miners' strike.

Oh my, the glory days of Pages from Ceefax....when daytime programmes were punctuated by pleasant easy-listening music and the ever-informative Page 198 on BBC1. Here we have a morning outing of the new tape 'Ellipse', which would go on to see a year's service on that channel - these are the first two tracks we hear on this recording.

Interesting and very sweet that the familiar Newsreel pages from the BBC Teletext Information Service Ceefax is accompanied by the first two tracks of then new tape Ellipse.
Thank you for this of course-well done too!

It is so too.
Well here's one of the tapes I would dearly love to hear again in full, but it sadly seems to be rather elusive. It was one of my favourites back in the day and only had a relatively short service life. Another I've never found in full on YT is "I Wonder If You Love Me". Come on someone, make my day! :-)

Ceefax in this video is accompanied by the first two tracks from the Ellipse music tape which I remember well.
Anybody else notice how the CEEFAX page number at the top is busted in this clip? It just keeps rocketing through numbers.

Certain numbers wouldn't hold still.

i think the BBC just broadcast p100 & a few other more fequently to avoid people having to wait nearly a minute to reach the front page
