Harsh but true review! Pagani has always been shaky with their QC, but when you got a good example in their old 60-75 Euro range, the value for money was amazing. For a 100 or more, different story. When you can get a San Martin during a sale for around 160, you are really entering a different world qualitywise. Also, the new standard clasp is a step back overall. Feels really tinny on my Explorer II Hommage and the diver's extension, if you wanna call it that, is kind of pointless. Who goes diving with one of these watches!?

Thank you for watching. Agreed, the PD-1661 for example was a better watch for 70 Euro, with a better NH35A movement. The solid milled divers extension was also better than the pressed one used on this piece. I concur with your point, in reality collectors do not dive with these pieces. Changing to the solid stainless steel case back was unnecessary. I preferred the exhibition case back, which had higher quality finishing. This piece is still only 100 metres water resistant, so the solid case back adds no benefit, unlike other models which it increases it to 200 metres. I still think the PD-1661, PD-1662, and PD-1664, are the best watches they have made. They had a better quality/value balance for their respective price points. Regards, #WR4K

I just picked up a PD1671 V1 with NH35 and the 90 click bezel action is superb. Also the bracelet articulates nicely with the lugs. It appears they widened the lug width slightly to accommodate the rivets. I would prefer this "Steel" version but worried I'll receive old stock with these problems. Any way, I wear this 42x50x15 watch on my 6.5 inch wrist. It does not wear overly large but it is heavy and that's with 5 links removed.

Yet another fantastic review, John! This is one of PD's best looking watches by far. The 'Pagani wobble' on the bezel is annoying, but I can live with that. I have 3 PD's with rotating bezels, two have no backplay and one has minimal backplay, so as you point out in every review, QC is inconsistent with PD watches. The movement used in this particular watch review is an absolute no from me, however, they are now being offered with NH35's for about the same price . With store coupons you can get around 10 Euro off, but I would be waiting until the 11/11 sale for a much better price. Pagani's prices have been creeping up, particularly in the past 12 months. They certainly don't offer the same value as they once did. This model at around 148 Euro is a little pricey for a Pagani.

I have got 25 PD watches, sure they are not perfect, but best value for money. anyday ! Be realistic, not so critical in this price range !

Nice in depth review John which doesn't hold punches. With Pagani now increasing their price level they need to increase their QC at the same time. Otherwise they'll lose their customer base.

Thank you for watching Scott. Agreed, the QC needs to improve to justify the price increases. The Miyota 8215 is a downgrade in specification from the Seiko NH35A. A better movement should be used to justify the PD-1709 being more expensive than the PD-1661. You make a good point about losing their customer base; many collectors are now paying the extra and buying San Martin for better QC. Regards, #WR4K

Its shame as I was really eager to get one of this as it looks really good. But unfortunately I have to agree with what you point out, there is just too many issues. Gnomon now sell a 39 version which is a better fit than the 42. It is often the case that collectors will buy several Pagani Design; then after disappointment with the Quality Control, they sell them and buy a Steinhart, or San Martin to get better Quality Control. It would be worth buying a demagnetiser from Amazon and first trying to demagnetise it. If it is still running +30 after then the movement will need to be regulated. Regards, #WR4K

I think the best pagani design watches today is pd 1661 and pd 1644 but the negative of the first is the choice of miyota movement

Great review with all those detailed close up shots. I ordered the PD1709 because of the good looks but it didn't arrive yet. Sorry to see that the build quality is not on par with the price increase of the PD watches lately. I also saw a review of the bezelless PD 1690 where the dial was misalligned. Disapointing.

Pagani QC is always spotty. I have this watch, and it is almost perfect with only very slight bezel rock in one quarter. However, I received a different colorway option that was dead on arrival with a broken action. Consistency could take this brand to a much higher respected tier. Great video!

As somone that owns the Pagani Design BB in 3 other colors (on paper the difference between this and the others would be the dial and bezel insert, and movement). Seems odd that virtually none of these problems exist on the other watches. I'm curious if you got a dud. I know this says it is a paid promotion video - if it is from Trendy Men's store would have thought they would send a decent sample. Appreciate the honesty here and as always, great review and detail. Maybe if the NH35 stock comes back down in price hopefully this one gets an update with other fixes, looks like a really nice piece if the QC is improved.

Thank you for watching Brian. It is a common misconception collectors have; assuming watch reviewers receive cherry-picked pieces for review without faults. As this reviews shows, I received a piece with a plethora of faults; the same as any collector purchasing one from AliExpress. I have reviewed many Pagani Design pieces, and the QC varies widely depending on the model. The PD-1661, PD-1662, PD-1644, and PD-1664 tend to have better QC than other models. Regards, #WR4K

I was wondering about that myself. I thought it was the BB from earlier with a new bezel insert and a different dial but I can confirm that the rivets obstruct the bracelet from flowing nice from the case. They really get stuck between the lugs. It's a matter of time that those lugs get really scratched up hence, I put it on a leather nato strap to avoid the damage.

Not a dud. Mine arrived just a day ago and has all the same problems. I have two other PDs and this new one is far inferior to those others … probably my last PD as really disappointing. Mine has a big blemish in the middle of the hour hand too, and there is glue residue round the bezel insert which is coming off but …

great review its pot luck with Pagani design there trying to increase prices but the quality is in my opinion is getting worse I have four 2 are great 1 is ok and 1 is terrible its a shame they can make a good piece but they're losing a lot of customers with this terrible quality i would honestly send this back if i received it

I have previously reviewed a PD-1661 which was 70 Euro and had much better Quality Control, also the NH35A was a better movement than the 8215. Regards, #WR4K

Such a shame that there are a few issues with this watch for an otherwise good looking watch. Come on Pagani you can do better, I know because I own several Paganis which I like and are decent quality much better than this example reviewed in this video. Honest review as per normal.

You pay for what you get. Cheap but value. Spend more money or get one made in England!.
