Pagan and Wiccan Practitioners Share Their Personal Journeys.

For many members of the Willow Dragonstone Community, finding their way to this progressive pagan spiritual path was like a homecoming, as we hear in the first episode of "Exploring Paganism." Among those who share their personal stories is Lydia Crabtree, author and advocate, and president of the coven based in suburban Atlanta.

When I was 12 I was homeless. The camp I lived at had woods all around and I had no clue what Wicca or paganism was but I talked to the trees when I needed to escape from my toxic family. I talked to them as If they were my human best friend and now looking back at it I realized that this is what's right and Wicca is my religion.

You should be talking to God the creator, not His creation the trees, God hears you, the trees don't. Read the Holy Bible (this is how God talks to you, He authored the Bible to you speak to us) and pray (this is how we talk to God). Believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Bible in the New Testament in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (but read the Old Testament also). And accept Jesus Christ as your Savior by believing the Gospel in the Bible and by admitting and repenting of your sins and be spiritually born again by honestly accepting Jesus Christ, God on earth, as your Savior, by believing that He was born one of us to die and resurrect from the dead to pay for our sins for us so that our sins will not condemn us at the final judgment, to reconcile us sinners with God to give us eternal life with Him. And believe that after Jesus died for our sins on the cross and resurrected from the dead three days later, that He lived on earth for forty more days, speaking to many people, then He ascended back up into heaven and He is coming back again at the end of this world to set up His eternal heavenly kingdom and all people will see Him and have our sins judged by Him. Accept Jesus Christ as your Savior today, before you leave this world.

It IS allowed. God gives all free will. He will never force His Way on anyone. But it is His perogative who will be with Him in the end. It's His as the Creator to make the Way to be able to have access to Him. He is Truth, Life, Love, All the Good, and the Only Way to Heaven is thru His Only begotten Son, Jesus. He is polite, patient and kind waiting and wanting none to perish (separation from Him, separation from anything good and pure and true) but those who resist His free offer His free gift to their last breath will be separated forever from the Goodness of God. When we say we are saved we are saved from the wrath of God which is to come upon all those who reuse Him and twist and turn and lean in their own understanding instead of surrendering to a Good and Loving God who incarnated and lived on earth and felt all we feel to identify with us and have compassion and mercy that we are not able to be sinless so He took all our sins upon Himself so that by believing and trusting in Him the veil that separated us from God is torn and we can have access to the Father. He loves each and every one. But there is only one way to be with Him...it is thru His Son. The atoning sacrifice of His Son for all mankind. "Christians" are always imploring, speaking about Jesus because we know that once we pass from this life the choice one makes (Jesus or not) determines their final destiny.... heaven or hell. It's really your choice. It comes down to a choice. God is just, merciful, kind loving and patient. But the appointed time to choose Him is now before it's too late. Please choose this day whom you will serve.

Actually you have it backwards, saying that Christians spread fear, what you should be afraid of, is dying with out accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior, and Christians know this, and are just telling you the truth from the Word of your Creator, LORD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST. So actually you are saying that you are afraid of the Truth, when you should be embracing it and making changes in your life. God condemns Witchcraft in the Bible and ALL occult practices in many places, here is just ONE, Deuteronomy 18:10-12 ( google it for more) BEFORE WE DIE and IT'S TOO LATE, which could be ANY DAY, WE ALL NEED TO, RIGHT NOW, TODAY, : ADMIT to God in prayer that we know that we are sinners in need of a SAVIOR, and that we BELIEVE and accept that JESUS CHRIST is our ONE and ONLY SAVIOR, and that we BELIEVE that He died to pay for our sins on the cross and resurrected from the dead three days later and afterwards ascended back into Heaven so that we could have eternal life with Him. Read about Jesus' sacrifice for you in the Bible, in the book of John. REPENT which means turn toward God and away from sin and sinful life styles, ADMIT to God in prayer that we are sinners and ask Him to forgive us. READ the BIBLE for yourself everyday and pray (talk) to God everyday. ALWAYS BE THAKNFUL FOR JESUS

Call it Valhalla, whatever, just NOT the Christian version of the afterlife. I definitely don't want to spend eternity with the God who caused hundreds (if not thousands) of innocent women to be persecuted and killed because of "witchcraft". The God whose words inspired the Spanish Inquisition. The God in whose name entire civilizations were wiped out for no reason. The God who idly sat by and allowed the Holocaust to to take place. The God of slavery and white supremacism. That God should be asking us for forgiveness, He should be the one repenting, not the other way around.

j w because in reality that is what it’s all about creating your own path. There is no fairy God sitting up in the sky damning people to hell and there is no Satan bound to earth making people do bad things. I look at God as both good and evil. A balance. I choose to practice both sides of light and dark, the balance. Not that I’m evil. But as human beings we do shitty things all the time not even meaning to. And if you really take a look at what the Christian God really represents? You’ll see that everything evil has been done in his name, It doesn’t make God evil. I choose not to believe in anyone God or anyone evil deity. We are made of both good and bad, light and dark, right and wrong. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. Jill Christian You are exactly the type of person I stay away from. inciting fear in people is NOT a God thing. It is a human being thing. The cause for conformity, a cause for control- If this is how you choose to live your life- Then so be it! As above, so below. It is evil to judge others. Which is exactly what you’re doing. Your hell may be burning eternally in a pit of fire (sounds awesome! 🤨) but somebody else’s hell may be standing at the end of the line During Black Friday sale!! You can’t determine one’s hell. There is no such thing as a firey-brimstone hell. This is something man created to make another man subservient. You are a creator of this illusion. And the Bible has been proven to be mostly allegory and isn’t factual in many cases. Including JESUS- Timelines alone don’t add up. So try not to get too philosophical when you’re uneducated. Let people believe what they want to believe. Because that’s the world we live in. Don’t try to rewrite Someone else’s reality! You may burn in your own hell. 🤷🏼‍♀️👻😈👹👺

Interesting that it seems like strict Christian religions actually pushed people away instead of drawing them closer. While I’m not a pagan, I’ve had a similar experience and it made me discover a new relationship with God, his son and spirit. I’m still a Christian (I believe in Christ) but I don’t “practice” any formal religion except my personal faith in the Lord. I understand the need to find a relationship to the Divine that you can truly embrace rather than trying to practice something that you know in your heart that you don’t and can’t believe. Blessings to all.

The Catholic church is one of the largest cults in the world , which has its members doing many meaningless rituals and worshipping thousands of dead saints, including Mary, and the living pope, Catholics worship saints (dead people) and the Pope, Christians worship Christ Jesus. And you should feel strange in this world, but it should be because you are meant to be a child of God in His Eternal Kingdom, not a child of this temporary world, which is heavily influenced buy Satan, and definitely NOT a child of God pretending to be a witch,( they don't exist) which God condemns (witchcraft) in His Word to us the Holy Bible. Please read it, and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, He is the only one who can reconcile us sinners with God, but we must BELIEVE it!

@@jaxthewolf4572 no, the Catholic church is a false religion/cult that mixes Christianity with their own false worship of thousands of dead people (Mary, saints, popes) and with their fake rituals, and says that salvation doesn't come from Jesus alone (which it does) but they say you have to have good works, but good works do not save you, only Jesus Christ does, you do good things because you are saved already by accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior, you don't do good things to be saved. And there are many other false religion/cults, Scientology, Mormonism, Buddhism, Islamism, Hinduism, Jehovah's Witness etc. " CHRIST"ianity started in the beginning, before God created us, because God knew we would sin with our free will, so before God even created us, or the earth and animals, Jesus Christ was already designated our Savior from our sins. "CHRIST"ianity on earth has its origin in Jesus "Christ" Himself, in His birth as one of us, His ministry on earth to us, and in His death on the cross for us, to pay for our sins, and His resurrection from the dead three days later, and in His ascension back up into heaven forty days later, and He is coming back again at the end of this world and all people from all nations will see Him and be judged by Him. There is no condemnation for sins for those of us from all nations who repent and have been spiritually born again, by accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior Who died to pay for our sins to reconcile us sinners with God to give us eternal life with Him. If all people from all nations do not give our sins to Jesus Christ by accepting Him as our Savior who died to pay for our sins, then our sins remain with us at the final judgment, and there is no other salvation. In 2005 I wanted to kill myself, I was 15. I got very close and a voice told me “you will be loved”. That voice was my inner self and it stopped me from doing it. I discovered Wicca through a teen book series I began to read called Sweep. It inspired me to explore Wicca and I immediately resonated with it. I began to listen to music that made me feel connected to the earth. My depression was healed within a short time and even in my times of complete aloneness I never felt alone because I was connected to the earth through Wicca. I began to have very intense ability of the senses. I was focusing on working with energy and nature through meditation. My senses were heightened to such a point that I got scared.. I was gaining psychic ability and it scared me. So at 17 years old I stopped practicing. I am now 33 years old and have been lost for a very long time and I looked back at my life recently and asked myself when the last time I felt alive was. It was when I was Wiccan and practicing Wicca. So here I am watching this and hearing their stories reminds me of myself and how it changed my life as a teen. I don’t think I ever gave up Wicca. I just wasn’t ready for the possibilities I am capable of. There is a stigma around magic especially back then and even more so before 2005. But now it is much more widely accepted and practiced. And now that I have grown up I am ready again. ❤ Blessed be

After seeing the constant arguing amongst Mormons, Christians arguing and bashing each other and others who didn't believe like them and seeing a few other religious groups behave the same way, I decided to give up being a member of an organized religion. I also got really tired of political parties and ideologies for some of the same reasons and some different reasons. I believe political parties and ideologies, organized religions and even political identities were all meant to divide us, make us latch onto rigid dogmatic belief systems and were meant to controlus and keep us all distracted fighting each other. So I became an Omnist. Now I use the best of all religions and spiritual practices and leave the dogma and bigotry behind. I don't pretend to know anything for certain. I believe in a Higher Power but also have some healthy doubts. I'm a bit agnostic but believe more than I doubt. My spirituality is a personal relationship with the Divine. I draw my faith, hope and inspiration from Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, Peganism, Wiccanism, Native American spirituality, natural living, holistic medicine, nature, animals, family heritage, my ancestors, charity, the 12 step program, the universe, spiritual books and self help books, prayer, meditation, yoga and practicing my spirituality and all I do with intent.

Does anyone else find it strange that they say they felt closer to 'God' in nature, when most Pagans don't recognise one God, but the Gods and Goddesses? Like, Paganism is 99% of the time polytheistic, so using God in the singular just doesn't seem right to me.

Most ancient religions have an undiscribable one source of the universe like Atum in Egypt or Brahman in India. Christian God supposed to represent this one source, but due to decadence of Christianity, God is interpreted in many different ways similar to how people described gods like Zeus, Odin, Perun etc. When people in the video say God, they mean the source of all holy in the universe and not individual deities you can worship and build relationships with.

Churka yeah. I understand that. But it just sounds odd to me because personally I wouldn’t use “god” in singular to describe anything in paganism. It would be plural or I would call that “one source of the universe” by either a name or a word that has no connection to deities and gods. Not saying they’re wrong they can say whatever they want. I just find it strange

Brian Hensley okay. But I don’t believe anything the bible says, I don’t believe any of that. My Gods and Goddesses are many, they represent many things. Why would a Pagan feel closer to “God” who they don’t believe in. I’ve never heard another pagan refer to the energies of the universe, or their Dieity or ANYTHING in the singular form. Paganism has nothing to do with Christianity so it just seems so strange to even use language from one in the other. A Christian wouldn’t say “I feel closer to my Gods in church”. That would seem strange because to them there is only one. I can’t get through the whole reply because you are comparing two religions that are at a base level very much opposed

Christianity is a man made religion formalized by Emperor Constantine into the Roman Catholic Church to unify his Empire by requiring everyone to join his religion and beliefs. The church stole many pagan rituals and beliefs and changed them to suit themselves, just like thy do today. Also Christianity is based on "Paulianity teachings and beliefs". Paul was Roman Citizen, who grew up in Greece under the pagan roman beliefs, etc... Jesus/Yesua (Joshua) bar Yoseph was an Essene/Nazerine sect Jew and disposed by the Pharasees and Saducees. Jesus, the Jew (not a Christian), has good teachings but everything has distorted and mistranslated. Essen teachings go back to ancient Egypt and some things Jesus said are from the Emerald Tablets of Thoth/Hermes but don't dare tell a Christian that ! (St.) Francis of Asissi was really a pagan, just read his ode to the Sun and observe his relationship with nature and the animals and birds. Pagans are everywhere. Wiccan Rede:" Do No Harm to yourself or others" I must say that people identified as pagans don't always believe the exact same thing. Native American spirituality is close to pagan types of beliefs ( just eliminate the Christianity that was forced upon them). Blessed Be !

Personally I can't stand going to church. Was raised Evangelical. However I still believe that God of the Bible is at the top of the totem pole. I have studied the occult and have had some experiences that were dangerous. I can't see the point in trying to contact spirits that may or may not be harmful to humans. I believe there are many spirits with a lower vibration and the Nephilim are the old Gods. I definitely do believe in both God and the Occult. Something I couldn't get my mind around is that Madame Blavatsky writings are anti-Semitic. How could you be enlightened and a racist? Anyone wants to answer would love to hear your thoughts. This was a good documentary I have also felt like these people while going to church. Also for those who are say they feel closer to nature, God made nature so that makes sense. Not going to lie and sit here and say Christians are all perfect. It is really toxic alot of the judgments in the church. That being said it doesn't mean your rejected by God I personally believe a lot of the Bible has man's opinion in it but from my personal experience God loves everyone. Gay, trans,.black white he loves everyone and anyone who preaches otherwise isolates people from God and to me that is the biggest sin of all.

Wow.. that's such a base way of looking at it.. but yes according to Christianity this is the truth but some only worship one dirty. But essentially if you get down to the nitty gritty of things one of the 10 commandments is the ye shall have no other Gods before me.. saying that you have the head but also you may give reverence and respect to others Yahweh was in fact part of a pantheon before the others just being (disappeared) other then Asherah. Asherah was worshipped along side Yahweh. And in Islam Allah had 3 daughters that were to be worshipped but it didn't sit well with the males so they wrote it off as Satan deception like most would if you added females as equal or as a partner to be worshipped along side the main male. Even though humans throughout the centuries had a tendency to match the divine masculine with a divine feminine as more relatable. Personification has been a common theme amongst humanity for a very long time.. humans need something they see like themselves and something or someone having a way to get through to them and help them understand why they are here what existence means to them personally.. but by the definition if pagan means multiple Gods Goddesses it would literally Be every religion in some shape or form.. everything has been so blurred now and loosing the Gods/Goddess started a type of fall of mankind.. lost faith lost hope and nothing to live for or purpose.. it all depends on your outlook.. people don't act right when they don't have that need for existence.

I recommend to avoid thinking on it as religion shopping. Still the part of your mind that seeks to give yourself labels and classification. Experience life with clear vision. Learn everything you can. Read books about various practices, beliefs and history. If you feel drawn into some particular path, study deeper. But you can also create your own way. When you start performing ritual is when you really realize that you are taking information and putting it into practice.
