Padron 80 Years Review | Widow Jane Bourbon Pairing

Mazz and Faccia indulge in a special treat: the bold and complex Padron 80 Years. A unique variation on the 1926 blend, the Padron 80 years shows off the best of taste, construction and quality that the Padron brand has to offer.
To pair with the 80 Years, the guys indulge in (a few) pours of Widow Jane, a 10 Year aged blend of straight bourbons, proofed and finished in Brooklyn, New York.
What cigars or spirits should we feature next? Is there a blend you've really been enjoying recently? Let us know in the comments!
Salud!

I haven't been smoking cigars for that long but I knew as soon as I fired up my first Padron cigar that they were something special. So far they are my favorite cigar maker and I think I will always have some sort of Padron cigar in my humidor. Thanks for sharing Anthony and hope all is well!

I tried the 1964 and highly disliked it. Was way so spicy and made me feel sick. It was like a habanero in a stick, no thanks. Ill stick to my infused ones.

I always thought with Padron and Davidoff, your paying for the legacy. In my opinion "My Father" has some sticks that taste very similar to the 64. The 1926 stands alone in flavor, truly worth the price, if your looking for a stick that you can really taste all the flavors these two gentlemen described. If your pockets are tight, Oliva has sticks that have that same "oily" look and feel, and are a 3rd of the price. Thanks guys for a great post!

A comment and a question: 1. I’ve literally never had a bad Padron. Something I can’t say about any other manufacturer. Never plugged, rarely needs a relight, just perfect to the nub. 2. I noticed you discussing retrohaling. I’ve gotten into the habit of doing a retro with every draw. Just wondering how often you do this? Every puff, every other, occasionally? Appreciate your great videos!

Thanks! Good question. It really comes down to personal preference. Surely you've noticed it helps you get the true essence of a blend and helps you pick out nuances of flavor, but it's not for everyone. As long as you're enjoying it, do it at your own pace!

Ive had a fair number of padrons but never this one. The 26 natural and 64 maduro are great. The few family reserves ive had were phenomenal too but I didnt notice much difference from the original 26 and 64 lines… maybe my pallet isn’t sensitive to notice the subtle differences, but im perfectly happy with the quality in the thousands series, 64 line and 26 line… would love to try this one day though

I have a Comancho with the old label with a big "C" on it from the mid 90s. It was a gift. I kept putting off smoking it. Now I'm afraid to smoke it. Would you smoke a 25-26 year old Comancho? I'm confused if its past it's prime or a vintage treat.

Why do some single cap cigars lose the cap and begin to unravel as I attempt to cut. Is the cigar too “wet”? One particular brand has consistent issues. Not sure I should mention the brand and blend.

  • @holtscigars

The opposite is more likely, that the cigar is under humidified. It's also possible the blades on your cutter are getting dull.

I've similar had similar issues and managed to get it better. There are several variables to your troubleshoot. What is your location,? The approx temperature outside/inside your home? What type of humidor are you using? What humidification device are you using? Have you recently added new sticks? Answer this and people can assist you. 👍

So this is what I’ve found works for me, I would love to hear from others though. I live in Florida (very humid), I use a dehumidifier in my house near the room to my humidor, I use a boveda 65% pack and it still tries to stay close to 70% so I will just open the door and let it air out everyone once in awhile to drop it down, being that the outside air is lower in humidity.
