Pacu is best in stew. Because the hide absorbs spices and becomes soft and chewy when stewed, but fried the hide becomes hard and not edible some folks strip the hide but it's best stewed. They also have large bones unlike their piranha cousins who are full of fine y shaped bones, hard to eat

Pacu will eat anything if hungry including men's private parts. In nature in Guyana they eat nuts from trees that overhang the rivers, but their favorite food is a moss that grows on the rocks in rapids. Pacu are strong swimmers and go up stream against hard current
