Paco de Lucia, es el mejor de todos los tiempos, me crie escuchando Heavy Metal, me considero Metalero (Metal Head), no reconocer que Paco es uno de los mejores guitarristas de todos los tiempos es como querer tapar con un dedo al sol y nose si no es el mejor... el dominio que tiene sobre la guitarra Criolla es un espectaculo. ¿Que és eso de la guitarra criolla? la guitarra que toca Paco de Lucía és la guitarra española de toda la vida seguramente hecha para sus grandisímas aptitudes, ya que para mí y para muchisima gente és el mejor guitarrista de la historia. Y sí alguien piensa lo contrario que aporte pruebas de una grabacion en directo como esta. Seguramente en tu ignorancia crees que esta guitarra fué creada por los argentinos o criollos, pués no, a hispanoamerica igual que la rueda, caballos, mulos, cultivo de agricultura, universidades, hospitales, caminos, puertos, astilleros y muchas cosas más fueron llevadas por los españoles.

Es una guitarra española, pues su origen está aquí en españa. Existen dos tipos: guitarra clásica: se busca un sonido limpio y definido. Guitarra flamenca: se busca que el sonido rompa (sature, distorsione) a volúmenes altos, y que trastee. No es una guitarra criolla, no.

Absolutely!!! I can see why he is such a legendary icon!!!

Well, you should know that he is improvising 75% of this piece in the sense that he is changing many phrases as the song goes staying in tune all along. Listen to the studio one and compare, you’ll see what I’m talking about. One thing about this particular piece is that you’ll never hear the same song twice when watching his live performances and there are many in YT. I was lucky enough to see him once before his passing a few years ago. Too soon… but he’ll live forever.

I was a teenager when visiting my family in Isla Cristina, Huelva, and went for a walk with my relatives near the beach and began listening to this piece . One of my cousins recognized Maestro Paco de Lucia with another guitarist playing the accompaniment. It's an unforgettable moment in my life. He was a very humble and wonderful person! Entre dos Aguas was an improvisation he created in the recording studio when he finished making the production and noticed he needed one more piece! He started playing this, and it became the actual main hit!

Paco is more than a legend for spanish people and this song is fantastic. I think a lot of spanish we grew up with this song playing at our parents' turntables. Probably Paco was the best guitar player ever. You have to read his biography when he spente hours and hours every day playing guitar since he was a little kid. He was veeeeeery critic and perfectionist with himself.

Y cuando le daba a las obras clásicas para guitarra era el acabose, siendo el culmen su interpretación del Concierto de Aranjuez del maestro Rodrigo de tal calidad que tanto el autor como Andrés Segovia (el mejor intérprete de guitarra en música clásica) coincidían que era la mejor interpretación de la obra en la historia.

When Al Di Meola and McLaughlin invited Paco to play jazz with them, he didn't really get the song's key and ended up playing a Greek scale for each note in the songs Meola and McLaughlin suggested. In a documentary, he mentioned he almost went crazy, literally - like his head was going to explode - and he realized how much of geniuses Meola and McLaughlin were... until he learned how to read the song keys in a grouped way. Once he explained his transition up to that point... it all made sense, and it was clear there was one standout genius in those three chairs.

The piece with which Paco de Lucía became world famous, “Entre dos aguas”, was, paradoxically, the only one in his entire career that he created by chance. It was in the studios of the Polygram record company in 1973. Paco was recording "Fuente y caudal", his first great revolutionary album after others in which he appealed to tradition, and he had taken great care of the work, composing it for months. But when the recording was finished, the producer, José Torregrosa, told him that one track was missing to complete the vinyl. Paco had no choice but to improvise from a rumba that he had more or less already outlined, but that was still stuck on pins and needles. In his own official guides he assures that it was "a filler issue."

I recommend reading about his life. He said he hated the guitar, because his father made him learn and practice for hours ever since he was a little kid and he could be quite harsh. He didn't have a childhood because he was forced to devote it to guitar playing. He said the only place he felt at ease was diving. Quite a story. One of the absolute greats.

@@fL0p y yo andaluz de falmilia relacionada al flamenco, y sé lo que digo, la gente no tiene ni idea de flamenco y lo confunde con el "gitanerío" con el flamenco derivado del folclore gitano, pero el flamenco de verdad es otra cosa, y nace en andalucía, por andaluces, y antes de la llegada de ese pueblo. Con el tiempo ganaron fama y se lo apropiaron

Su musica refleja una manera de ser, de vivir y de querer exponerse ante al resto de los mortales desde su propio interior. Magia pura.

Lo mejor de todo es que Paco improviso esta canción en el estudio para rellenar el disco. Eso cuenta la leyenda! Gran musico.

Es el único guitarrista que llegó a domar a la bestia llamada guitarra. Control absoluto en todo momento, sin estrés, las notas fluyen perfectas como si un mago tocase, imposible fallar, el error no existe...

Una pena que el mundo anglosajón no lo conozca, pero el mundo hispano si, es el dios de la guitarra indiscutible

En el mundo no hispano se hizo famoso porque tocó con guitarristas de talla mundial y sus conciertos juntos fueron épicos

El mejor guitarrista de su generación sin duda alguna

Es tan intensa esta canción que te deja sin palabras

La limpieza en la ejecución de Paco es increible. Todas y cada una de las notas suenan limpias, nitidas, reconocibles, no hay ni un solo ruido de los dedos subiendo o bajando por el mástil, salvo alguna imprecisión y alguna nota que se ha saltado... CASI PERFECTO.

I would assume that the name of the song is a reference to Algeciras, where he was born, as the city is situated between the Mediterranean sea and the Atlantic ocean. I am not really sure, but it certainly sounds fitting.

Esa risita nerviosa del minuto 4:12, al verle hacer una de sus maravillas lo dice todo. Dice de una persona que sabe lo difícil que es hacer eso y que está sintiendo una admiración brutal en ese momento. Paco de Lucía es un genio ya no a nivel mundial, si no a nivel historia, tipo Mozart, pero en su época; trascendió géneros, estilos, generaciones, creo, incorporó, mejoró. Nosotros no lo veremos, pero dentro de 200 años seguirá habiendo gente que se maraville de lo que hizo este señor y al igual que nosotros envidiamos a los que tuvieron la suerte de vivir a gente como Mozart, Vivaldi o cualquier otro, ellos envidiarán lo que nosotros tuvimos la suerte de vivir. Ni siquiera sale alguien tan grande en cada generación...

Absolutely!! Coulnt have said it better myself!! I can totally understand why he is such a legendary icon! I wish I would have known of him sooner I really think it would have had a big impact on my playing style! He is definitely one of the greatest musicians of out time and will be inspiriting countless generations to come!
