Thanks for these videos, Dave. I don't know if you read my other post asking for something on these subjects, but I'd like to offer a trick I learned (and expanded on) as thanks: One can keep their water warm with a cozy made from newspaper & wrapped in duct tape, they can also add aluminum foil or chip bags for extra effect.

The pillow bag can also be converted into a hood to put over your head if you hold the bag so that the open end is facing down, and then take one of the top corners and push it into the bag towards the opposite top corner. The top corners then become the back of the hood. This not only creates 2 protective layers, but you can also stuff debris in between the layers for more insulation if needed. If the pillow bag is made of wool then it will provide even more warmth during cold weather.

Hopefully this tip will help you. Very appreciated what you provide us. thank you a lot.

Many years ago 40+ I motorcycle camped. I used my sleeping bag and a mil-spec. poncho only, set up as a bivy system or the poncho over a picnic table cover depending on the weather. No fire, slept soundly. Have adapted the same system for the use in a pickup bed system or ground system that works very well. How did you make the browse bed?

What sort of material is the 'bed', and how is it constructed ? ... is it just oilcloth as well with a triple (or so) stitched seam? ... Even wonder if you could shave off quite some weight by making the browse bed out of parachute like material (possibly reinforced in 5 place by stichting some 10cm folds together, if it would need reinforcing), then take a fairly normal normal type sleeping bag (rated 0~5C or so), add a silk liner, and one of those thermo bivvy's, and a 7by7 re-useable space blanket (if they'd come in that size). If said space blanket would have 5 or 7 grommets on two opposing ends, one could even weave some para-cord through them (with a knot on one end) and 'singe' is underneath you to create a tunnel and reflect heat from the bottom as well (or tug it in underneath you). Would basically be the same system but in a more modern setup...
