Another tip: Most airlines don't mind if you have a pillow with you. So when I flew back to Switzerland after almost two years in the US and all my bags were gonna be way to heavy, I filled a pillow case with light clothes. Ended up weighing 10lbs, but nobody said anything!

Genius! 😅😂 Just a bit skeptical that it can be seen in the xray machines tho
another life saving trick is to weigh your checked bags before going to the air port, that way you know what to take out or move to your carry on ahead of time!!!
Can you please make a video about traveling with a backpack vs suitcase?

YES I NEED THIS
I usually take an extra totebag or drawstring bag which I then use as a hand luggage and possibly check in my luggage (usually I take both on the plane one as a hand luggage and the other as a personal item). People underestimate how much stuff you can put in a tote bag (and they never check). If I have heavy stuff, I will put it in my personal item as well, because they don't check! Also sometimes you don't need a personal item but it's so much easier to have all the stuff you want access to handy so a cross body bag works best. If travelling hand luggage only, take two items- one with the things you need in flight AND don't want to loose (with extra underwear and shirt) and the other with the rest of the stuff. If the plane is full they will check the hand luggage (if it's a backpack, they don't usually look at it!) probably, as it was already near the flight, your bag will not be lost but you'll also have already the items you need in flight in the other bag and don't have to move things around. If taking two bags or more, make sure that the bags can be worn in different ways! like a shoulder bag, tote bag, back pack or rolling luggage. It's difficult wearing two luggages the same way. If using a backpack, make use of the straps to make the bag look smaller and to put in any jacket etc on the outside. Carabiner clips are life saviours to attach things on the outside of the bag! If using backpack with one main compartment, attach a small flashlight on the inside zip so you can see what's inside in the dark. This had turned into an essay which I think is out of point so I'll stop
I work at the airport as a check in agent and also a gate agent and yeah there's no way I'm gonna buy that 3 bags hack😂 I know all the tricks of people hiding bags under their clothes or even hide it somewhere else like behind a huge plant or a wall near the counter.. if I'd ever let someone pass with too many carry on bags it's bc I don't really care or bc they were nice

Also an actual great trick to take too many carry ons is to say that one of them is your "medicine bag" airlines are not allowed to force u to check a small bag if u have medicines in it

I used to have your job and I agree with you... one of the other reasons we used to let them think they are clever was because the flight wasn't full and we were confident there was not going to be any space issue once they board the flight :)

What about items inside jackets? I've seen alot of "luggage jackets" lately. The ones with hidden pockets you stuff full of soft items . I actually started to make myself one, but figured I'd rather pay for checked bag than have to face the embarrassment of having a gate agent tell me that it's not allowed...

I tried that going to Africa on a mission trip, and they made me check my small carry-one. She was kinda nasty about it on British Airlines, at Heathrow.
packing travel hacks 1) the smaller the bag, the better 2) get a hard case ; more durable and waterproof ( but might be hard to squeeze clothes in it unlike a fabric bag) 3) a bag in a bag ; put clothes in smaller bag and put small bag in the bigger bag then put everything you buy in the bigger bag when you get there. 4) a folding / collapsible bag 5) get a smart bag 6) use a backpack as a carry on if you need more space 7) put heavy items in the carry on 8) put awkward items first 9) heavy items on the bottom 10) put shoes in their own bags 11) roll clothing 12) use packing cubes 13) if your packing a hat ,see if you can wear it or put the bottom part of the hat in a empty space and fill the inside of the bag with clothes to keep the shape .fold edges down 14) be conspicious with underwear (i dont know how to spell the second word) 15) have a laundry bag for dirty underwear 16) make sure to measure weight and width of your big items in your bag 17) bring smaller versions of big tools ( mini hair tools, or mini toiletries ) 18) little bags to put jewelry in then put them in one little bag 19) make your bag open proof so if you open it things wont fall out

Another tip for jewellery: If your jewellery doesn't come with a bag, you can use a pill container. It also helps you organise what jewelry you want to wear everyday
These are great tips! You've said this one in another video I believe but don't get bags that look like everyone else's bags. They're so hard to find if you ever check your luggage or it gets lost. My tip: If I'm going to/from a cold weather place, I bring my jacket with me as a carry-on and stuff the pockets/sleeves with smaller heavy things, because even if they weigh your carry-on, they won't weigh the jacket you have draped over your arm! I've done this with candles, books, cameras, etc. I've also done this with the "kangaroo pocket" of a hoodie, then turned it the other way around. Works like a charm.
This has to be one of the most useful packing videos I've seen! I can't wait to try out these ticks on my next trip!
All great tips! One additional trick for hiding your purse when you have 2 carry-on's. (I've done this successfully numerous times). I get a plastic bag from one of the airport shops and put my purse inside. I've never been stopped for it because they assume it's drinks or snacks and it's technically not an "additional bag". ;)

This video was really awesome! Clean cut editing and super informative :)
i mean you could stuff the purse in your backpack if you have space tbh
Great tips! Loved these!
Your travel hack videos are always so helpful!
You got me using compression bags and packing cubes. Love them.
I just love your videos. You give some very good advice for traveling. Thanks.
I absolutely love your packing videos! They are always so helpful and practical. It's so good to know that these are tips that you use as a professional and regular traveler instead of the people who travel once every five years😂

Love your tips (and Dixi jewellery)! If you're flying out of the UK, carry-on liquids specifically need to be in a completely leakproof bag, so unfortunately none of those nicer TSA-approved fabric zipper bags are allowed. I always get my carry-on weighed when flying out of here as well, & have had staff being quite rude to me when it's only just within the size & weight limits - not sure why!
Thanks so much for this!! I'll be flying again for the first time in almost ten years so I'm a lil out of the loop on air travel! Your videos have been very helpful!
Thank you Nadine! You helped inspire me to travel, and to make my own travel videos to encourage my friends/fam to travel!
Love that backpack, girl! Thank you for including the links for these items :D Also, putting jewelry in little bags is genius! I hate the clink wrap idea. Gona do that from now on, thank you!

Thanks for the awesome packing tips, using those little bags for packing jewelry is genius, I've been living in tangled jewelry hell so will definitely try that next time!
One of the things I do when I travel is make sure I have a day or two's worth of clothing in my smaller carry on. Even though I carry on sometimes they check them at the gate if they run out of space and you still risk losing it. So I try to make sure I have enough to last until the air port finds my luggage or I have a chance to replace. I've never actually had this happen to me personally but my friends have. Safe and happy travels!
omfg yes i needed this! this video couldn't have come at a better time bc I'm leaving Saturday! loved the video! thanks for it! :)
Huge fan, enjoyed this! Going on a trip soon and only taking my carry on and backpack. Thanks lovely! 🐰
Great video, great infos! Definitely will try the tips out. :) Somehow, I cannot get enough of your packing and travel hack videos. Please keep em coming! ^^
Also, you really dont need to take a seperate laundry bag. Just keep the plastic bag from your first super market trip. Same for the shoes. Just put em in a supermarket bag. Cheaper and more minimalist because when you are done or its dirty you can use the plastic bag over in a bathroom or bedroom trashbin or to collect your rubish when you are on teh go.
Great tips! But be on the look out for thieves!! I want to add that you need to make sure you lock your bag before checking it in, some countries are known for stealing stuff from your luggage. A bag with clips and a secure key works best for me. I have had all my jewellery stolen, so I take as little as possible and keep all valuables on me. If you are going to sleep, put a bag with precious stuff underneath the seat in front of you. They steal stuff on board as well, even water on my last trip! Travel with a jacket with pockets and put your credit card, cash, passport and jewellery in there. In my country you must be extra vigilant, so check out the awareness you should have when travelling certain countries.

Kay, Nadine - i'll recheck these wise lessons again as soon as i find a way of getting us out of this rustic village in The Netherlands.

The smart suitcase is brilliant, there are so many cool and helpful inventions for travelling! Despite it being expensive it is well worth it!
Amazing- going to use these tips soon!

ur vids are so informative and i enjoy watching them a lot
All i can say is, your hack/tip videos are amazing. They have helped me so much.
Loooove this video!! I'm going on a trip in a week and this was beyond helpful :) thank you for this video and all your tips!! Also I love your brown purse, where's it from?? So cute and not too big or small
As a gate agent I can confirm they 'purse hide' will not work. Just put the purse into your cabin suitcase
Love the tips! I always try to light pack so I can get in and out of airports and hostels quickly! :)
Right in time for my trip in 2 weeks! :)
Really helpful, thank you! One thing I only realized recently is to always use the spaces (grooves) between the bars inside a case with wheels. When you are using compression cubes, it's really easy to throw the cubes in and forget about that space. For a long time, I kept throwing the cubes in and leaving those grooves empty. Now I use the grooves for scarves, my flat iron, Havanas, etc.
Gal I've met along the way clued me into a helpful thing she does in addition to her layering that I need to try but looks a great idea as it reduces bags and spreads weight so your carryon/personal item things aren't all on your back - and are easily reachable!: Wear a light fisherman's vest under your jacket. It hides and it has lots of pockets.
It's so useful... tbh i would never watch a hacks video this long BUT your hacks are the BOMB.
Really enjoyed this Nadine! Very helpful☺️
One of the most useful packing videos Nadine! LOVE YOU! :)
@HeyNadine I have been using my smallest vacuum seal bags (the ones that you can vacuum, or in this case, roll out the air) to store my dirty clothes. At the end of my trip, I just fold up my dirty clothes and roll out the air and it's compact, smell proof, and small in size!
Your videos are fun to watch!! Thanks for the little baaaaaags! I used to sneak up heavy stuff also in my Jacket - such as stuffing hoodies, books, souvenirs into the sleeve or closed up jacket also good for hiding handbags - never had a problem anymore with the weight for my check in bags/carry ons ;D
I seriously love your videos, they totally inspire me to travel wayy more! Also I love that you're Canadian too haha :)
omg that mini straightener is so cute
these tips were so helpful!!!
I learned a lot from this! I will use these tips on my next trip!
I love your idea! a crossbody bag and a backpack! Now I felt little much better, I was debating to buy new personal carry on bag but will I buy a backpack over the tote ones. Yea the small luggage is better!
Love your personality! And very informative...thanks 👍😁
That smart bag is so cool.
Im going to my family soon[on a plane] and Ive been watchin a lot of travel hacks this video was the most helpful
Do a suitcase/backpack collection please! You have so many awesome ones!😊
Omg with the back packs this is sooo true. Airlines dont bother checking!! I was traveling from morocco to London with my family, we had bought a rug whilst we were there. We shoved it into my little brothers bag and they didnt bat an eyelid that my dad was putting the bag on a trolly. I mean, who expects a 6 year old to actually carry their own bag!!
Love your videos! I'm curious as to out of all of the rolling carry-on suitcases you have used, which one is your favorite?
I place my clothing in space saving bags. They're great. I wear a sweater and my heaviest shoes on the plane. I use Eagle Creek's money belt for my valuables. I wear it under my shirt.
love the last seconds
Thanks for sharing 😁
Damn, you're like a packing guru! This info is so useful, thanks!
I LOVE your videos!! You're freaking amazing! Thank you.💕💕💕
If your jewelry is relatively small, you can use the little plastic containers you get makeup samples in from Sephora and they're quite compact :)

I have had carry on weighed on Emirates flights, UK to Dubai, on 80% of trips. The budget ones seemed more interested in size rather than weight and sometimes has restrictions 5cm shorter than the normal so as to catch out maxi sized carry-on bags.

Your video's are awesome. It's so nice to be in the age of "being able to find instructions" on every topic, in such fun, accessible ways. Thanks for what ya do!
I recently did the 3 item carry on bag and I stacked my camera bag on top on my purse bag and it looked like it was inside the bag so it got thru. Not sure all airlines would have let me do it but Jet Blue is 👍 great!
Love the collapsible bag idea :)
Thank you this is amazing tips!
Awesome pretty good job on your video 💜
Do you have a video on how to upload to youtube while traveling. I'm just at home and a 10 minute mp4 video takes about 3 hrs to finish uploading. Thanks
One thing I noticed when traveling locally within the States is I normally have my carry on suitcase, a backpack around my shoulders, and inside my backpack I take one of small thin bags you can roll up that is great from putting a few books in or clothes in so when I get there I can fill that up to. I have never ever had an issue with having to bags around my shoulders with my 1 carry on suitcase and I end up having pretty much a second suitcase worth of stuff on me.
I have a brown duffel bag that I love, and it definitely always works as a carry on. Won't lie though, sometimes it can be a bit heavy on my shoulders. 💙💙
Another tip with jewellery is cellotape in your bag you can make a mini hook and hold up certain parts using tape and it works so well!
Yay, Slovenian coat of arms on backpack :) :) Nice video!

Very smart packing. You have a magnetic personality. 🌻

As a flight attendant I can assure you that when you pack and bring a zillion carry-ons, it's annoying AF. So many people do this, then the bins get full fast and we are delayed checking a bunch of bags. Not cool. Pack less, bring less. Some airlines offer free checked bags if you bring it as carry on and offer to check it at the gate.
@spicecrop

People bring everything on the plane because the fucking airlines charge for checked bags. If the airline wants to make things easier for the flight attendants and gate attendants, then they should go back to how things were. Checked bags included in the ticket , free.

@@Helen-me1vn I don't fly asshole! Fuck the airlines! I don't put up with their bullshit security theater from people that aren't any smarter or more professional than your average city bus driver. Taking off my shoes and getting my body scanned and crying over 4 ounces of shampoo and making us buy over priced water. So you can fuck right off! And enjoy your slavery being treated like a "potential terrorist" every time you fly. Screw the airlines and their rules. There are other modes of travel besides shitty airlines.
any tips on how to pack for a two day trip? especially when putting stuff on a duffel bag or a backpack
I've followed the crowdfunding etc for the bluesmart but I do have a lot of gear with me so I hope they make a bigger suitcase at a later time
