Packing for your River Trip

Packing for your river rafting trip is part of the fun, and having the right gear has a big impact on your enjoyment, no matter what the weather or conditions. Western River Expeditions has always provided your camping gear like sleeping bags, cots, eating utensils and plates, mugs, etc. All you have to think about is what you put in your own personal duffel bag.
To help you identify the right gear, and know how to pack it for the river, we have put together packing lists specific to each trip, and then created this video which helps explain each item. Enjoy packing, and enjoy your rafting trip!

    Wow, nice professional vid, just got back from a lower canyon motorized trip. Not that I didn't pack 'ok' (took too much stuff of course), but, if I would have seen your video it would have made me better prepared. I feel like developing a 'rainsuit' that would have many features of a wetsuit. Having a 4 foot wall of water dump on you, is very different than strolling around in a rainsuit out of the canyon..

    +david barker Thanks David! Yes, when using rainsuits under huge waves it's quite a different experience than your standard rainstorm! We're considering the addition of a splash jacket (generally used by kayakers), especially for cooler trips. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

    Real paddling gear, the stuff whitewater paddlers use, is the way to go. IMO even inexpensive paddling gear is better than rain gear. NRS is a good source.
