I use the Native Lands website and App to learn the history of people native to the areas that are now national parks. This is a great place to learn more about the people of America and this history of where you live. native-land.ca/

I started my full time travel journey at the start of 2020 when I quit my job. My plan was to travel the world, but my timing was horrible. I decided to stay closer to home and explore the US. That decision promopted me to build out my Ford Transit van and travel to every National Park! I've currently been to 52. Along the way I made it to all 50 states IN ONE YEAR! I can't believe it actually happend but from April of 2021 to April of 2022. Now its on to new crazy adventures!

I would take a “camera” along. Something with zoom capabilities. Phones and GoPros just don’t reach out for longer shots. I’ve used LUMIX waterproof and Nikon Cool Pix w/15X optical zoom. The Nikon is pretty much a point and shoot other than the zoom. I’ve done this ride 10 times, missing this year though. Have fun!!

...and a helpful tips for clothing; If you find a shower facility, walk into the shower in your cycling clothes. Everything except the shoes. Soap up, wash your clothes, peel them off, rinse, wrong, and they're clean. Then you wear them the next day, clean, maybe a bit damp at first but you can dry them out by spreading them over your gear. That way you never have dirty clothes on your ride. It's worked for me for years.

One other important item is a battery operated fan. It’s hot in the tent at night and a fan will help sooooo much. Must eat at’s on the ride: Chris Cakes (pancakes), Farm Boys (breakfast burritos), Toms Turkey (turkey teg), Mr Pork Chop (pork chop), Beekman’s Homemade Ice Cream. You’ll have the time of your life on this ride.

I slept on an air mattress with just a sheet till about 1:00 or 2:00 when it gets cooler. The fan I hung above me with a couple cords. Coleman makes a good one. You might want two, get them (one apiece) before as you will not find them anywhere once the ride starts. BTW expect lines for everything! It comes with the ride.

Rain is forecast for the first few days. Your bags might be sitting in the rain at the overnight towns so you might want to put things you don’t want to get wet inside of large garbage bags or in individual ziplocks.

Hey Laura, I was just cycling with my sister Laura today... Have you ever thought about pulling a 'bob' trailer? They roll really easily, and you forget they're there, but you can really load them with lots of mattress, bag, tent, gear, everything. Cycling shorts are way too expensive! Love you guys

I love this idea! There were so many great camping spots that are too far from the truck.

Did you stay warm enough this year? I brought a sleeping bag last second and glad I did as a couple mornings were chilly

I was a little chilly a few mornings. I took wool socks and a light long sleeve that I ended up wearing a few nights/mornings. That made a huge difference. I ended up taking out m sweat shirt and pants which would be nice, but I was ok without. I think there were 2 mornings where I was a little chilly, but just enough to motivate me to wake up and get moving. Courtney was very happy to have her sleeping bag though! It's a good thing you grabbed it last minute. I think we were just on the cusp this year of being uncomfortable in the mornings, but we sure lucked out with the weather during the days. I can't image being out there now in the 90 plus heat!
