On a quiet March afternoon in Atlanta, in the midst of offseason workouts, looking for a home and planning a marriage proposal, Tyler Davis visited with Packers News, giving a peek into the demanding process of growing from a late-round fringe player to a tight end receiving first-team reps.
The New York native grew up around the music industry. His father, Steve, spent most of Tyler’s childhood as Atlantic Records’ senior vice president of artist development before striking out on his own with Davis Entertainment Group. The Davis kids were surrounded by music. Tyler’s first visceral concert memory is being 5 years old, watching backstage as Gene Simmons rose 25 feet above the audience on a platform with KISS.
He spent his childhood on a tour bus, creating memories he still holds dear. But while his siblings kept their foot in the music world with their father, Tyler wanted something different.
Instead, he gravitated toward his family’s other love: football.
