PACING PRO TRACK RACES || Trials of Miles Track Night || Steeplechase and 5k

Well this was SO FUN! This experience reminded me why I love the track community so much...the energy, the support, the tenacity...everything about it I absolutely live for. I loved being involved again, and I'm looking forward to continuing to get more and more into it. Huge shoutout to Trials of Miles racing for putting on this event and bringing Spencer and me along for the ride. Also, thank you to Citius Mag for the great coverage and for letting me use the race footage. #TrialsofMiles #CitiusMag #AllieOstrander

    Not only should you have bragging rights and be impressed with yourself for hitting the 75s, but also feel a real sense of accomplishment of setting the perfect pace for all of the runners. That was your assignment, and you did it perfectly. Awesome!

    Awesome pacing efforts for the steeple and 5k. You nailed the paces and I am sure all the competitors (and race organizers) appreciated that. Good that it helped you feel good about upcoming racing, too. So great to see you coming back strong from recovery. Best of luck with continuing training and getting back into racing.

    How'd you like the run along the West Side HWY? NYC has a ton of good spots for running but it takes a little while to find them -- like Van Cortland Park in the Bronx or Prospect Park in Brooklyn. We also have a ton of tracks. Staten Island is loaded with natural areas, maybe better than Seattle ;) NYC is not just Manhattan :) Congrats on getting back on the track and good luck in the upcoming 5000!

  • @allie_ostrander

    @allie_ostrander

    2 жыл бұрын

    I do think that some threshold training is beneficial for the mile. You probably don't need to do anything super sustained. Maybe start out with 3x5min with 90sec rest and work up to running 15-20min straight. For me, threshold pace is roughly 1 minute slower than my mile pace, but I like to go off feel. It should feel comfortably hard, and the effort should stay about the same, not get exponentially harder throughout. I hope that helps, good luck!
