ABOUT THE HOME:
A true piece of San Francisco history, this expansive Pacific Heights multi-level property on an extra large lot has been the longtime residence of the Gotti family - the famed restaurateurs behind Ernie’s. Regarded as one of the city’s finest restaurants before it closed in the 1990s, Ernie’s counted Hitchcock, Sinatra, Streisand, and Marilyn Monroe amongst its regulars, prized by all for its high style and excellent French cuisine. That impeccably carried over to the Gotti’s home life, where love and care is evident in every corner of the beautifully appointed 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath space.
An elegant foyer with marble flooring opens into a bright, airy floor plan that flows comfortably from a large living room with wet bar at one end to a family room on the other. An abundance of natural light fills the home from both ends via large windows and french doors as two spacious terraces bookend the main level offering optimal indoor/outdoor living. Lush landscaping provides a private, secluded feel in the massive rear courtyard with plenty of room for kids or pets to run around, while the front offers a spacious terrace overlooking one of the most premier blocks in San Francisco. Cooking and dining is a wonderful experience in this home, as one might expect from its heritage. The chef’s kitchen offers ample storage and cooking space via custom cabinetry and center island while timeless Sub-Zero and Thermador appliances grace the space. With a formal dining room and family room that seamlessly connects the kitchen to the outdoor space, this home is perfect for holiday gatherings or weekend entertaining.
The upper level is comprised of three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a notable amount of closet space. Old-world elegance meets contemporary appeal in the generously sized master suite. Large windows and a skylight floods the space with light, projecting a peek-a-boo Alcatraz view, warmed by a polished decorative marble fireplace and two master baths. Wardrobe collectors will delight in the large walk-in closet along with three additional closets for storage. A stairway leads from the master suite to the rear yard. At the other end of the hall, two bedrooms share a marble bathroom as well as a covered terrace - a perfect spot to enjoy the morning sun along with your coffee. Each bedroom features large closets, one walk-in and one standard, and the hall has an additional walk-in closet for extra storage.
If more storage space is needed, you will find it in spades in the downstairs two-car garage. Two sizable crawl spaces and a walk-in closet abut the parking area, along with an ensuite bedroom. A dedicated laundry area is on this level as well, though a chute from the top floor makes it easy to transport wash. Sophisticated design and intelligent layout make this house instantly feel like home - and offer a rare opportunity to join an esteemed area of Pacific Heights.

Why does this video make me sad 🤔. Beautiful home with lots of good memories. I hope they’re not selling out of necessity.

Ernie's! A whole other time in San Francisco. Men could not eat there unless they wore a jacket and a tie. If you didn't have one they had extras you could borrow. After it closed it became a night club for a very short time.
