Her bow hold makes me laugh in a totally good way because she's absolutely fabulous but I spend SO MUCH time as a strings teacher correcting kids from similar looking things. There's definitely flexibility at the confluence of human and instrumental anatomy. I sat within spitting distance of her the last time she was in Chicago and everything about the technical and musical presentation was overwhelmingly good. Such a pleasure to see and hear.
Thank you so much pablo..... I can't get bored from your videos..... you are my idol in cello playing
We need a episode with Jonathan Roozeman talking about the secret of his vibrato!

If you watch really closely and carefully, he uses two fingers sometimes.

a@@aristideduplessis8151 Many do that, still their vibrato is not as wide. It can be explained by the slanting of his hand and contact point.

@@s.l5787 yes, obviously there are varying degrees as to how much one does it.
I've always wondered about her bow hold so thank you for asking that question! Wonderful interview with such a superb musician!
Wow, me encantó!!! Alisa contagia mucho su alegría. Que genial escucharlos a ambos!!! Muchas gracias!! 🤩🙏
Thanks Pablo! Everyone you've interviewed is very unique! Including you!!!!
Great !! Inspiring! Thank you both ✨✨⭐⭐
Pablo- thank you - the information around 11:00 about bringing tension down into the core, legs and feet brought real results to my playing- what a valuable sharing. Bless you for bringing secrets of the cello to us who do not have access to the techniques of the great players. You also bring such humanity to your show through who you are. Thank you for sharing that energy as well.
I really enjoyed this. Will you please invite Steven Isserlis on Talking Cello? Gracias!!! 🥰

Omg he did 😂
I love this interview! As a cello student, both your insights help so much. Thank you!
Hey Pablo! Amazing video as always, I just wanted to point something that I find important and that's the fact of including a little introduction of the cellist you are "interviewing", because personally I haven't heard much of them, so would be nice to know a bit of their career and stuff... Thank you for doing these videos, they're great, they are helping me a lot!

Muchas gracias por compartir, Pablo! ☺️
This was wonderful. Thank you so much!
Fantastic!!! Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
So after watching the interview with Pablo saying how much he enjoyed Alisa’s recording of Shostakovich, I immediately opened it up in Spotify and ... wow... what an amazing recording. It sends chills up my spine. Great interview , as always.
Bravo
Wonderful video. I’m a huge fan of Alisa, so thanks for getting her on your show to talk more in depth! Love listening to cello talks like this.
Qué buenas estas charlas, Pablo! Dos cracks del cello! :)
This was great. I saw her play the Shostakovich Trio with her parents in Aspen when she was 14. Needless to say, I was astounded and remember it vividly.
gracias, gracias, gracias Pablo!

Thats really great
Very interesting. Thank you
Thank you Pablo! How about inviting Sol Gabetta to a talk?😇
Hi Pablo, now I'm curious to know which are your other favourite pieces :-) do you ever listen to violin concerto in your free time and be jealous of the repertoire?
Please can you do a video on left and right hand independence for legato playing (no portato)
Hey I love your channel so thank you for the effort and time you put into it. My question is that there's an interesting pair of themes in physical strength and being relaxed. When I play at my best I get very tired in about a three minute simple piece (I'm an older learner) and I'm also inclined to have head, neck, shoulders and even legs really tense in efforts to play better - plus if it's going well I get really amped up and by the end of the 3 minutes I just want to lie down. Do I need to get fitter as I'm not that fit and also I'm short in height and playing a large cello which I know I should really change. Should I concentrate on getting fitter or just concentrate on practising and build up stamina as I go along and improve? I already practice one hour minimum but sometimes I'm in severe discomfort and take strong painkillers after practising. Any advice you could give would be really helpful. Thank you - keep on making the videos as it's really interesting. 🤔

Hi ! Thanks for your comment! Since playing an instrument is quite physically demanding, I think is normal to get tired, nevertheless it is very important to always look for the maximum result in performance with a reasonable amount of effort, of course that will take getting to know your body slowly, and also as you mention building up stamina, that is very important, by practicing more hours, or by playing a high level of intensity during short periods of time, just the same as you would train running a few miles. An hour is not a huge amount so there Is a change that your muscles are still not fully accustomed (?) I will try to speak about this in one of the next videos, is a great topic! And I would of course be very careful with the painkillers! All the best!

Pablo Ferrández Thank you! It would be a useful topic for lots of us oldies who are learning at a basic level but aiming higher. And I loved the Cello Chat with Johannes Moser too 👌 Good luck with your upcoming concerts 🥳
🤝
If i practised a lot can i be professional like you ...... is it easy to be a great soloist like you ..... but my teacher always says I am from the best cello students
Another awesome talking cello episode. Can you also have Inbal Segev talk about the cello suites in depth. Your bow hold technique change my life lol.
lol had similar bow hold problem with teachers, eventually they gave up xD

Wish you actually played the cello here and there like you did in your first couple of videos
