Thank you for sharing my story Ms. Ina. This is a humbling experience that I really want to share to the people who is taking the same road as I am, switching careers and changing their pathways. To the people who is still dreaming, I suggest that you start on trusting God, your family, and specially yourself on taking the road that's in front of you. It is never about luck to be honest, life is about trust and genuine HARD WORK. Accept what you have right now, do your best, and don't stop on dreaming about better future for yourself. Whatever your work is as long as you're doing it right with heart you'll never regret any decisions that you will make. I may not be pursuing my first dream job right now, but I am sure that I'm living the happiest days of my life. Also, it will never be "butcher ka lang" pero I am proud that I did that job and work with people that is hard working for their self and for their families back in the Philippines. Never stop dreaming mga kababayan!

Good job Jasmin. Just want to inform you that the main reason there aren't enough med docs in Canada is because you need a gr 12 AVERAGE of 95% - that's pretty much near or genius calibre. How hard? Browse those gr 10 to gr 12 books in chem, bio, physics, social, some even take math calculus level, etc. to get an idea as to what you really finished. Believe it or not those science & math in gr 12 level are more difficult than 90% plus university subjects. Remember almost all chapters are studied. I challenge all foreign grads to take those gr 12 subjects & find out if they are as qualified as the locals - fair is fair & that is 95% average. Locals with lower mark than that are not accepted for med doc in uni. Yep, there's a huge loop hole in the system & that's why so many docs here are foreign grads.

I know 4 med doc grads from RP & they're doing technician job here in Canada. They didn't want to cheat the exam here - yes it's a biology based multiple choice that doesn't change for years (because it's not funded by the government & allowed to take it upto 3 takes or 4 takes), only re-numbered, passed around in person or social media, so if you have an older copy then it's an easy pass - the sad truth be told - they all cheated. Just ask the guy who claimed to have passed, look them in the eye, then you'll know the rest. The local & way smarter qualified students are getting robbed.

Congrats Jasmin! Lakas ng loob talaga ang kailangan dito sa Canada. Ako nadevelop ko na lang ang lakas ng loob ng nandito na ako - no choice na. I was once student and ang hirap talaga, school from 8am to 1pm then work 3pm to 11pm though 20 hours per week lang pero full load ang units ko 5 subject for 2years kong ginawa po iyon. Nang narinig ng mga home grown Canadian friends ko ang sabi sa akin ba naman eh " that is suicide having 5 subjects (courses ang tawag dito) and at the same time working 20 hrs per week, that is too tough and hard"kasi sila mga citizen havng only 3 subjects per sem then working on the side. Just sharing po. Thanks

Good decision!!! For if you had pursued your plan of becoming a doctor would entail a lot of money & 4 years of medical studies are not enough, you still have another 3 years of residency then several years for specialization. By the time your done, you would then be in your 30's & a lot of doctors except those with famous parents dont earn well enough. In fact, a lot of doctors back in the country have downgraded themselves & shifted to nursing for the chance of leaving the country.

pre med pa lang naman, malayo pa talaga yan, opportunities sa butcher? butcher is a butcher, ano pang grow ang naiisip mo na mangyayari sayo as a butcher? simple lang ayaw ng gumastos ng magulang mo at ikaw naman, ayaw mo ng mahabang proseso ng pag-aaral.

If you watched the video di na sya nag start as butcher. Nasa quality assurance na sya. Being a butcher does not limit your capabilities going up the corporate ladder in a company. A butcher can eventually be a supervisor, manager and eventually be a CEO.

@@paoloincanada butcher is a butcher unless you STUDY? So from quality assurance you need to study again to go to the next level. Even if you are the best butcher in your company you will still be a butcher unless you apply and study. In canada there is no instant promotion, you need to qualify and apply. CEO is a far fetch. Being optimistic is fine but that is not the reality.

@@BenTumbling-ld2ku nope that is not true. In a company you gain experience. Companies provide career development programs to have employee engagement and retention. Do not generalize your experience here in Canada.

@@BenTumbling-ld2ku Who said I wanted to be a CEO? No butcher available as they all became CEO? where did you get that analogy? Certainly I did not say that. How does one's tenure in Canada be a basis of what I need to learn? Clearly it is not me who needs to wake up and learn. Have a good one mate! Cheers! 🍻
