रूपौली सीट से निर्दलीय उम्मीदवार शंकर सिंह की जीत पर निर्दलीय सांसद पप्पू यादव ने कहा, "... ये काम नीतीश कुमार जी के मंत्रिमंडल के लोगों ने बड़ी साजिश के तहत अत्यंत पिछड़ी जाति की सीट को हराने का काम किया... भाजपा का जो हार्डकोर वोटर था वो एक भी वोट JDU को नहीं दिया। 10 वोट भी राजपूत समाज के लोगों ने JDU को नहीं दिया... मैं कांग्रेस को सावधान करना चाहूंगा कि बिहार की जनता दोनों से ऊब चुकी है और एक विकल्प खोज रही है जो कांग्रेस बन सकती है... आने वाली पीढ़ी ने दोनों गठबंधन को नकारा है...अभी भी अहंकार समाप्त करने की जरूरत है...युवराज मत बनिए और फरमान मत दीजिए।"
