Beautiful song. What is it about? I wish I could understand Greek.

Thanks. Anyway I could guess it is anti- Nazi/fascist song because I can hear the word fasismo - I would like to know more like what the lyrics are, does it make references to the war time fascism or to the time in post war Greece as well.

I have heard about this post war conflict in Greece from both sides - my teacher of English served in the British army and was deployed in Greece in what I believe was 50-ties, then communist propaganda in my country always stressed that we had accepted a large number of communist refugees from Greece. When I was a kid in the 70-ties we had this female singer who was a daughter of the Greek refugee. I loved her songs. She was singing them in my native language, then years later while watching the closing ceremony of the Athens Olympics I heard some of those tune again this time with lyrics in Greek. Now I found all those partisan songs and I like them a lot. I have never thought that it was so bad in Greece in those times, that those so called democracies would resolve to torture and killings. With all those refugees I just thought they were expelled from the country or so - had no idea that their life was in danger.

The neo Nazi parties are the enemy of the democracy - I have no doubt about it - but for me also the neo liberal parties are the enemies of the democratic system. After the fall of communism those liberal parties advocating for unlimited freedom for the capitalists took power in the whole former soviet block - including Poland. The party which is currently in power in Poland is very traditional in its approach to moral values, yes it is allied with very small neo Nazi movement, but people elected them not because of those two factors. People chose this party because it presents truly socialist program - as far as economy is concerned. Do you for example know that it is the only party in Poland which for years has been proposing progressive tax? Can you imagine that even a party which call itself a socialist party (SLD - alliance of democratic left - former polish communist party) for years has been for flat rate tax? Only recently with its support falling abruptly, close to being wiped out from the political map of the country those traitors of socialism decided to put progressive tax on their agenda? What kind of a country is it where poor people pay more taxes than the rich? It comes as no surprise that ordinary people start voting for anybody who offers them social justice even if that justice comes with the package of restrictive moral values. It is more important for people to have something to eat than to be free from the church bigotry.

I'll tell you one more thing about this capitalist 'free world': it is the same, 19th century oppression of the working people - in Tesco stores in Poland shop assistants were not allowed to use the toilets for hours - as a result they used pads and they shitted and peed in them. People there hate the other meaningful party, the neo liberal Civic Platform. There is no other party which really counts.

@@askas9083 thank you for the kind words! I know this comment is a bit old, but do you remember what songs did you hear at the closing ceremony of the Athens Olympics? It always is interesting to find common music in different countries. Solidarity from Greece!
