Just saw Edna with Pink Martini last night in Ann Arbor, thankfully played this song. She sings it so beautifully.

This song has a special place in my heart, it’s what started it all. During’20 lockdown I stumbled across Storm singing this song and I was immediately captivated. And thus, the Pink Martini adventure began. I’ve been discovering the this amazing extended family ever since!! Edna’s singing of this song is yet another beautiful chapter in this exquisite coffee table book (hint, hint) that is Pink Martini. Thank you thank you!! (San Miguel or bust!!! I don't want to denigrate the level, the quality of the performance of this song by Large Storm, or Edna - I like both performers and their versions; however, the original is by Maria Tănase and remains unmatched as a performer of this masterpiece ... especially since the Romanian language is, however, her mother tongue. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z4ZstNuQf67glps.html&ab_channel=Electrecord

Well, so, so, it have byzantine influence. I know because I am from Romania and this is a song very known here. This song have, I think, almost 200 years.

Nobody can even come close to the majestic Maria Tanase, but I admire Pink Martini for making her music known to the world. Edna does a very good job, just like Storm, but only a romanian soul can sing this as it should be, that's because it's in our blood. A few years ago Loredana was invited by Pink Martini to sing it in their Bucharest concert, and it was spot on. No surprise there, since Loredana is fantastic singer and a massive Maria Tanase fan.
