PALAK ONION CHUTNEY (Palak Ulli Karam)
Ulli Karam means Onion Chutney. Palak Ulli Karam is a traditional Indian dish made with spinach and onions, cooked in a blend of aromatic spices. This flavorful and nutritious vegetarian dish is a perfect choice for a wholesome meal. You can even give it in lunch box.

Give this dish a try and experience the burst of flavors that will tantalize your taste buds. The combination of the earthy spinach and the sweet caramelized onions create a harmony of tastes that will leave you craving for more. Whether enjoyed with roti, naan, or rice, palak ullu karam is sure to satisfy your hunger and delight your senses.
Recipe -
- In a mixer jar, take 3 medium size onion.
- Add 1 tbs kashmiri red mirchi powder & some salt
- You can add a small piece of tamarind as well, if you like. (Optional)
- Churn and make smooth paste
- Now in a pan, take 2-3 tbs oil
- Add 2 tsp chana dal and 2 tsp Urad Dal
- Once you see dal turning mild red in color, add 1 tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera), 1 tsp Rai(Mustard Seeds)
- Add 2 Whole Dry Red Chillies, fresh curry leaves & a pinch of asafoetida (Hing powder)
- Add finely chopped 3-4 cloves of garlic
- And finally add some onion paste, and saute the mixture nicely.
- Once the onion puree gets cooked nicely, add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi) & 2 tsp Dhaniya Powder
- Now add 200 gm chopped palak and mix it nicely
- Cook for 5-7 minutes only - it gets cooked very quickly
- enjoy with some ghee on rice

Please note urad dal or channa dal toda jyada hogaya ,itna nahi dalo thoda kam karo it's actually very delicious ,I use little tamarind for the onion puree it's more yummy
Chana dal shayad cook nahi hua hoga bcoz chana dal is hard

Why would I share kaccha dal recipe? Please see the description this is a South Indian staple dish and don’t think they eat this raw .. dal gets cooked and it’s the same as u have in coconut chutney as crunchy
