The only thing I really don’t like about it is how long it takes for the turret to turn around since it defaults to facing forward.

It’s good that way when you are dog fighting your turret will automatically engage enemies and I have killed quite a few people that way

@@Phantom-bh5ru I agree it's good for engaging forward targets, but I'd prefer if I could set it to defensive position by default since this is a big plane and attracts fighters to it.

The P-61 is what taught me War Thunder. I was a bad player until I started maining the P-61 and here I am, 4 years later now only mediocre.

I loved it in AAB... took it in to do CAS in GRB and it gets slapped all the time... I guess it's recognised as too big a threat and gets all the attention.

the p61 is probably my favourite plane for its tier in the US tree. Fast af in a straight line, great bombs and it evaporates anything on its nose. +the 50cals mean you can cheese turnfights with fighters by just lighting them up across the circle lol

Now imagine if we could lock the turret forward and use the quad .50s offensively like you could IRL

Technically you can. More than once I’ve been in Sim waiting to fire on a fighter I’m stalking, and my gunner lights him up before I start shooting. Not the same as us being in control but it’s pretty sweet.

Fun fact: With the American 20mm's, you're actually better off shooting at the heavy tanks than the railway carriages, you can pen them from the side and like 5 tanks give the same amt of points as all the railway carriages. Unless you're going for a thunderer or sth.

P-61 was a night fighter that could do everything, and was really good at it too

Its crazy when people say that it wasn't a good plane, when every account that I've read do aviators who actually flew the damn thing sing its praises. They loved it. But because some huffy general who thought he knew better really wanted the Mossy, that meant the Widow was bad and it's just not the case. Or they will point to early model problems, you know, that thing that pretty much every plane of the war suffered from.

My favorite is sitting 2km behind and under strategic bombers, then relentlessly peppering them with the turret. Watching BONFIRE LIT engine by engine is perhaps the most satisfying feeling in Wart

You should have flown it years ago before Gaijin nerfed Aced Crew gunners into narcolepsy. It was an absolute nightmare in every game mode but it was especially nasty in sim. You could see 8 and 10 kills before you died. And it auto killed things 360 degrees,even the planes directly in front of you would be getting hit by your turret and 20mm's...it was incredible. The premium version was the same killer but lower br because it has no dive breaks and no ordinance.

I love this plane but one thing that always confuses me is that turret. It has great range of motion and 4x.50 Cals and I never seem to get a kill with it. I can get kills with the single .50 of a waist gunner on a B17 or a twin .50 on B-25. But theres something about the turret on this and on the A-26 that means I cant. Like they do no damage or something.

I've found that waiting for the thing to swing all the way backwards (it naturally returns forwards when no enemies) gets me killed a lot

You're just bad. It's easy just fly straight and low and if someone is behind you you'll get em. You're most likely not leading correctly

My personal favourite way is to turn fight while using it. Gets you the largest part of the enemy to hit while turning, they cant really escape the range or angle of the turret, the guns can just keep firing cause 50cal (cant miss if you shoot everywhere), and they cant aim at you while you turn fight them. Just make sure to disable the autopilot/leveling option in the settings so going into gunner doesnt make the plane level out (oh, and use wasd to control your turn cause your mouse is aiming and firing the turret). Done this for months and is hella op, good fun.

Its really crazy to think that Widow is basically the size of a b-25. Its a monster.

I remember one time I used the turret on this plane like a Schrage Musik gun to kill an enemy bomber flying above me. He probably thought he was safe since I couldn't climb up to him, then next thing he knew he was getting shredded from below. I would've loved to see his reaction.

Fun fact: This is what the turret was actually meant for. As a night fighter the Widow would fly under a bomber with another in front and the gunner and pilot would shoot down 2 bombers simultaneously

@@Cheapshot512 Yeah I thought this was pretty much the primary use for a BW. Thanks to the radar and the placement of the guns it was not so well suited to ground attack....at all.

Love this plane in both air and ground RB, it's one of the most consistent aircraft I've flown, at least 3 kills per match.

I love the look of heavy fighters/light bombers with yoke controls, wish the Mossie had them, since test pilots said it was actually more agile with a yoke than with a stick

This plane can do everything. It’s my favorite plane in the game and it has gotten me through a large part of the US air tree

I just love doing drive-bys with this thing, you fly parallel to enemy bombers using the turret, its super fun

When it was released, they said in its description how durable it was, but the wings would snap off from a dusting of .30s.

The Turret is the one thing I hate about it, I have an aced crew with it, max turret gunner (It's the crew I use with Bombers) and the ONLY time I've had that turret turn and engage somebody by itself is when they where less than 100 meters from my plane, and even then it was finicky as all hell. I really wish Gaijin would buff gunners to shoot at enemies further than fucking melee combat.

My favourite thing about this plane is how because of turret you can still turn fight to a degree some aircraft because you don't need to get guns on for the turret to start shooting which will usually do enough damage to hinder them enough to get guns on to finish them off.

I remember the old days when the AI controlled the turret. There’d be many cases where it was firing in conjunction of your firing. Was kinda op at times bc it was basically aim bot too.

The 20+ multistrike in cologne is easily achievable with basically any plane. A couple of 100kg bombs would do just fine, railway carriages are ridiculously weak (they don't give a lot of points either, but it's fun to fill the killfeed)

This is an overpowered, beast plane right here. I have 2to1 kd ration in Air battles, and I guarantee u that it wouldn't suck at all and nothing would change if to move it on 5.0 or more, cuz it still will be pretty fast (especially on high alts), yeah these days it's quite hard to survive some1 on a tail (but at the same time an attacker also doesn't survive so), cuz people are clever these days and can start shooting from 1 kilometer when u start shooting them.... Plus sometimes this thing even can turn of all things.

Always kinda wished there was a "night fighters only" game mode or event.

"Jack-of-all-trades, master of none, but better than master of one" indeed. This thing kills bombers, fighters, SPAA, and tanks without much difficulty, in exchange for a slow turret, a huge silhouette, and poor rolling. Now if they gave the option to lock the turret forward, this would be a phenomenal ground attack aircraft.

The only thing I hear by watching this is "Oh-ee-yeah Tale Spin Oh-ee-yoh Tale Spin"

*Did you know, you can fly it upside-down to turn the dorsal turret into a ventral one ;)*

Should do a video on the A26C-45DT that plane earned me 14 million silver lions and took me from 3.0 American planes to 9.7 Jets in a month. I have 9 million convertible RP from playing it

It has a huge Bug tho. The Pilot should be able top use turret 50cals frontally too, since that was the entire purpose, when they designed it.
