    Beautiful airplane. I've had a love for the warbirds most of my life. The time, money and dedicated care of thousands of people that keep this important part of history alive for multiple generations to see is laudable. But just once I'd like to see a warbird in it's actual war time condition. Olive drab paint that's dusty, dirty, with oil streaked down the fuselage. Greasy hand prints and obvious repairs from battle damage. Just as it would look on the flight line. There was never time nor care to clean and polish and pamper these aircraft, they were tools of war that carried the weapons needed to defeat the enemy. This is not to disrespect any warbird owner. It's just that a perfectly painted and polished airplane never existed in any theater of the second world war. Thank you for all your videos and 'Keep'em flyin'!

    A lot of people don’t know but the razorbacks were faster and more stable than the bubble canopy variants.

  • @danraymond1253

    @danraymond1253

    6 ай бұрын

    Sorta kinda. The razorbacks were in fact more aerodynamic, so at the same power they were about 4 mph faster. However, when they went to bubble-top production, they increased the power from 2,300 to 2,600 hp. This added power provided a good deal more thrust, and actually ended up making the bubble-tops faster than the razorbacks by about 2 or 3 mph. The razorbacks where more stable though, and that's why later bubble-tops have the dorsal fin, which wasn't a complete fix until the larger upgrade on the N model.

  • @BullGator-kd6ge

    The restoration was done by AirCorps Aviation and the aircraft belongs to the Dakota Territory Air Museum. The aircraft suffered a mechanical fault and crashed in New Guinea in September, 1944. I dunno how they acquired it but the whole restoration took 8 years. Apparently it’s the only Razorback P-47 built by Republic that’s flying.
