I will have to test that. I doubt these scissors will cut much more than paper. They are decent scissors but not for a survival kit.

Best thing is...better than nothing.

If they switched the survival card for some detachable needles or fishhooks (and provided some thread). If they got rid of the extra extra whistle for a signaling mirror. If they switched the scissors for a semi decent compass. Then it would be worth much more than it is. Then again, you can always buy it and make the modifications yourself.

It's not horrible. Some items are actually pretty nice and I will be putting them in my kits, some are just gimmicks.

You do not see much Ozark Trail stuff at Walmart in Canada. I don't see this kit listed. It would be better than nothing. Thank you for the review. Threads. Stay safe and stay warm

Ozark Trail makes decent stuff, they just do not make decent stuff all the time ha ha. I have been using one of their tumblers for nearly 10 years, works just as good as the other brands.

@@extendedp1 My wife actually just called me from the store last night and asked if I wanted that little solo stove. I cannot use it where currently live so I passed but its seems pretty solid after looking into it a bit.

Walmart’s in central Virginia are phasing out most Ozark Mountain camping products. Guess we were getting to prepared and self reliant

I like the bag.

I like most of ozark trail equipment. I bought a 3 person tent from them not bad. I did however set it up in my garage and seamed sealed the hole tent. (just in case) works great. Ozark trail equipment is hit or miss.I have bought a lot of stuff from them. No problems big enough to bash them

I build custom blades and was gifted an Ozark trails sheath knife. Felt cheap looked cheap and I decided to review it on my knife channel I had back then. I gave it a decent edge and while beating it through a a foot long piece of pine the blade shattered like glass.

I'm a hardcore survivalist and I try to buy top quality gear always but I like to collect survival kits for fun but Ozark Trail sucks I've bought several items to try out but a few knives a book bags have been decent

I can accept no first aid items because you can add from your own medicine cabinet. However I cannot excuse missing fish hooks, sinker, line, needle, and thread.

They stopped selling the SOL line. I picked up one on sale for $20

The Coghlan’s survival kit they used to sell back in the day for $10 was WAY BETTER than this kit. It actually had survival stuff in it.

Needs a couple Mylar blankets and and a small water filter straw with a collapsible water container and an Israeli bandage some duct tape a lighter some anti diarrhea pills and pain killer so like 20$ more it’s serviceable

add a BIC and yes it is worth it.

Good video, not mil spec to be sure but if you were jammed up and this was in the trunk of your car it's a lot better than nuthin

People tend to forget such kits intent. They are for emergencies, when all chips are down, it is something one can fall back on. Too create shelter, make a fire and for water collection, that little shovel is okay for digging cat holes, but I would not go beyond that with it, aside from maybe self defense. Two valuable things missing from such kits, and I can not harp on it enough, no toilet paper and first aid....

Gotta be careful with those compasses on bracelets things. The striker can become magnetized if you have it near magnets for any reason, which will mess up the compass unless you take it off first.

I wonder where in a "survival situation" we'll have access to corked wine and imported bottled beer? 🙃I understand that the Swiss Army probably has (or had) these things in the rations, so maybe it made sense for swiss army knives, but why do we have them here?

I guess one can hope for bottled beverages in the moment ha ha I have never really understood why a lot of knives, survival or otherwise, have a corkscrew.

They have a few new cool things

subtract the scissors & "multitool" knife for one of their $17 leatherman-clones. Pop in a beach towel and a couple Mylar blankets plus a 99-cent poncho.

No fish hooks and sinkers, or a rudimentary first aid kit?

The little saw on these shovels is supposed to be helpful using it to chop small samplings etc.....I call gimmick on that but the shovel is handy to have. Hadn't thought of using the head nets for a bucket cover....thats a great idea!

HARBOR FREIGHT came out with one. This looks better. . .

I looked at Harbor Freight here and they didn't have any in store. Most all of this style are almost identical.

couple items look..ok. bag is a starting point. over half the junk i would just toss. as might not even hold up for one use. but that whistle's on a key chain might be a keeper. not sure if that bag could hold a couple more..better items. but no med. requires a second marked bag for such anyhow.

lol Yeah.....They are supposed to be pot lifters but the joke was missed. I wouldn't use either as a pot lifter with all the plastic involved

No container & no cover? At least there is a cutting tool, cordage (13.1 feet of it), and a combustion device. 30 dollars, not worth it. I suggest one builds their own. It would be cheaper. Ozark trail company is really taking a piss on this product.

Always hit and miss with them and a lot of other companies as well.

A survival kit without a 1st aid kit, is not a survival kit. There is also no extra space in the bag to add your own 1st aid kit. Not worth $30. Multiple whistles and bottle openers is just a way for they to add items so they can say "?? piece survival kit". And the more pieces the more intriguing and the more they sell them for. I like some of their stuff but not this kit.

@@AtwoodThreads It's bulky and I'm sure it's weighty. Plus I wouldn't trust that plastic collar. Would you rather have a shovel or medical, water purification, more combustion, and shelter in that space? I would. The shovel might last a while in my neighbors kids sand box lol.

$80 worth of gear for $30 in my world of math.

Scissors, whistles, knives - duplicated if not multiplicated. Where is a space blanket? and many other stuff like some first aid gears. In my opinion rubish.

For me, the medium quality of the things in the bag are good enough for an emergency kit, so it's ok.

It's not bad, just not great. I added a bunch of stuff and made a solid kit from it. It's for emergency, not daily use so it's somewhat a pass.

That's really not a crazy price for what you get.

Meh, just for a camping weekend, or even if it's a matter of survival, I don't want to have to rely on junk like that. 30 dollars is still a lot, on Temu you can get survival kits for 5 dollars. That's enough if you just want to have a bit of useless stuff lying around at home...

The allure of this one is you can grab it off the shelf at a huge chain store. With a few tweaks and far less whistles it could have been a decent kit for 30 bucks

I think I can make a better kit from stuff I have around my house and I never put a kit together

@@butchie2752 Water purification likely left out for legal reasons. Although they likely didn't think about it in any case. I add in water treatment to all my kits. I will be taking what's good from this one and ditching the rest. I am always interested to see what they put in these kits.

I agree. Lots of people don't know where to start or get spooked and want something quick. With this being available right off the shelf of one of the big name stores I was hoping it would be pretty good. It's not horrible but very lacking for sure.

Really it's $30 for a bunch of gimmicks. Not all the gear in this kit is crap to be fare. Most of it is but not all. That's the whole reason for the video is to show what is actually inside so people can make a more informed decision.

Most of it is, yes. But to be fair (why I bought it and did a video on it) there are a few items in here that are good. Would be better to not have to buy all the other junk to get them but that's why I did it.
