It seems from the patent that Hangzhou Great Star Tools (in China) that makes knives for Ozark Trail didn't steal the knife design or rip it off... They actually paid an unspecified fee to the patent holder (BUCK) to share-patent their own version of BUCK's knife. So basically, this one is made with permission from BUCK, with a certain royalty from the bulk sales being paid to BUCK (that's probably why Ozark Trail and Walmart hasn't been sued). To get this information, you can contact them via email, and vice-versa, BUCK is fully aware of Great Star Tools manufacturing this knife. I just thought I would post this comment just in case someone might be interested, but won't buy it because they think it's a ripoff or pirate copy. It was done legally, so no harm to BUCK.

See this is the kind of effort that's nonexistent in the folding knife community. There is a fair amount of homage action going on by specific manufacturers and it's not even a secret. There no explanation but there is a lot of reckless tactless jaw jacking that's really poor taste and smacks of a deeper bias. But the facts arent broadcast. But like this guy showed, make an effort to investigate and not far from the surface are facts that makes everybody comfortable. Awesome video, and gold standard response. 'Cause the golding knife game is getting weird. Oh and steel is being mislabeled lol. S35VN is sometimes 8cr13mov lol. Eafengrow is a major offender selling like hotcakes on Amazon. People with industry standard equipment and HRC testing are exposing Chinese manufacturers. See LuvThemKinves channel for lots of test batch knives. I've said too much, appreciate both of you.

After having this knife roughly six months based on when I commented previously, I gotta say I really question the need of a knife costing 10 or 20 times as much. Only thing I haven't done is battening wood that a knife this size probably shouldn't. It holds the edge well enough. I hit the spine with a belt grinder, file, and sandpaper, to throw sparks on a ferro rod better. I only wish the handle was a little fatter for more leverage when I try to twist a piece off processing tinder and kindling. If you don't overly abuse this knife I think it'll hold up and work very well for people, especially if you're decent at maintaining the edge.

I have a lot of budget blade's that are beast for the money. For buying a expensive knife , well all I can say is that it becomes a addiction. Next thing you know you want to try different steel's and handle materials. The only way to do that is spend the money that folk's want for it. I can do just about what I need in the bush or edc with a Swiss army knife really. A knife is as only as good as the hand that wields it. 👊💀

I'll probably still hit it with some higher grit water stones but I was hoping to do some sharpening when I got home lol. I love the feel and how it handles as well. If it holds up halfway decent it's well worth $18.

@@beckystiles1754 Ms. Cheryl is awesome there is a $10 or around about that price Camilus knives my daughter likes it so I gave it to her. It will do just about anything you need to do in the woods. It's light has a comfortable rubberized handle. 90° spine to strike a fire steel if you like that type of thing. The steel is a stainless so not much care is needed just sharpening when needed. An the sheath ain't to bad either. 👊😁 If you have any questions I'm here to help if I can.👊😁🍻

REAPER MILITIA OUTDOORS thank you! I was just looking for one that would work for about anything out in the woods. Just wanting to learn some survival techniques.. bush crafting type stuff. I wanted like a Bowie and then a smaller one for more detail type stuff maybe a carry too. I kind of like the condor undertaker and the Ontario marine raider and SP 43 and Rd-9 ranger series. I like the feel of the handle on most of the Ontario Bowies. I like the cold steel Wild West but it’s heavy and pricey 💪🏼😁it looks cool anyway. So idk I’m just kinda looking around at different options. I already know I’m not going to stop at one there’s just too many but I kinda want to stay in the middle on price. 😊

It's springing as you seen I think they may have done that so it wouldn't break. Being a low quality steel but seems the one I got the heat treatment is pretty damn good.👊💀🍻
