    Just by watching this video, while not owning an Oxi One, I can already tell that a) this is a very good tutorial and b) this sequencer has been designed with excellent usability in mind. Really warming up to the idea of buying one in the near future.

    I just got my Oxi One- I still haven't unpacked it yet- I am feeling a bit anxious about the whole thing. However, I will say that of all the videos I have watched, yours seems to be the most clear and concise tutorial. I plan on having this open for reference as I get started. I hope you will make beginning videos for each of the sequencer modes.

    @RobotsAreRed Thanks for the video. There are still a few important things that I do not know and no reviewer talks about. I would use this device as a step sequencer for my DAW. And my DAW will send the midi information to each of the desired midi devices through its midi tracks -> midi interface -> midi DIN cable -> midi device. 1 - How is the timeline of a track (a track in a DAW) represented on this device's pads? Are there multiple ways in which this device can represent the timeline of a DAW's track?: - a single horizontal row on a single page? - a single horizontal row on multiple pages? - multiple horizontal rows on a single page? - multiple horizontal rows on multiple pages? 2 - How is one bar's worth of time (a bar on a track inside a DAW) spread over the pads of this device? In every video I watched, 1 pad o the midi controller corresponds to 1/4 beat's worth of time length in a DAW. Into how many smaller divisions/pads can 1 bar (a bar inside a DAW), be divided? Onlyv16? 32? 64? 128? Can I have a higher resolution than 16 pads per bar? Can I have 64 pads per bar (16 pads per beat)? Or 128 pads per bar (32 pads per beat)? 3 - If it it is possible to have 128 divisions/pads per bar, will 1 bar encompass all the pads on 1 single grid/page (8 horizontal rows X 16 pads each) / with other words - will the blinking light of the currently playing position, when reaching the last pad at the end of the horizontal row, move from that horizontal row to the next one above or below it? - that would be great! Or it will have to cross to the next page (if the page is activated) => 1 bar (a bar's worth of time length in a DAW) will only use one horizantal row on each of the 8 pages (16 pads per page x 8 pages = 128 pads)? 4 ‐ How many pages are there? 8? 5 - Is each horizontal row "hardwired" to a different midi channel and the above mentioned things are not possible? Can multiple tracks (each on different midi channels) inside the DAW be controlled by this device at the same time (different horizontal rows triggering notes on different midi channels)? 6 - How many midi channels can this device use simultaneously? Thanks!

    1. The device does not show what is happening in your daw, it doesn't receive that information for visualizing like say the launchpad would. 2. You can divide the speed from one or two bars (I don't remember off the top of my head) all the way up to 1/32 triplets. You can easily change your sequence length to start and end anywhere from 1-128. 3. Yes. And there is a "follow" feature where it will update your sequence page when it is played. You can turn that on and off (on by default). 4. Yes, up to 8 pages. 5. Nothing is hard wired. With multitrack mode you can have each row assigned to a different midi channel and just sequence in the triggers/gates, and you can press and hold on that specific square and change the note of it. Matriceal mode also allows you to send sequences to four different midi channels from one of the four main sequences. 6. The device can support up to 32 midi channels with it's one adapter. You can actually use all 32 at once if you use the multitrack mode on all four sequences.

    with the multitrack mode, yeah each "drum hit" will be assigned a certain base note (you can change by holding down the orange row button and turning your root note). You can change the individual steps to different notes by holding that step and adjusting with the encoder like you said. If you wanted to do something more musical with notes, would it make more sense to not use the multitrack mode? Not sure what you are using it for?

  • @RobotsAreRed

    @RobotsAreRed

    9 ай бұрын

    I have the beatstep pro along with the Oxi One. They both work great together and work a bit differently. I personally like being able to choose the Keys and scales on the Oxi. And if you want polyphony with modular, you can have up to 8 voices of polyphony from one sequence. The arranger (song) mode is also really great, and can get more granular than a keystep or beatstep can with that, and more visual feedback programming the song. If you are using up all of your keystep channels on patches and need more sequencing, then I would say definitely yes. If you have a smaller setup, the keystep will probably do just fine. Personally I have the Oxi, a beatstep pro, and basic keystep. I use them all. If I had the Oxi and a keystep pro, I would probably end up using the keystep more for the performative things, and use the Oxi for the rest of the sequencing. The Pipe is also great!

    I have a couple of questions regarding the arranger section. when I save a new pattern (like the way you done it) and edit then save again, it's not recognising new pattern. Also if I have pattern 2 only as 1-32 and pattern 1 as 16 - 64, it plays pattern 2 twice even though I have set it to loop only once, is this normal? Thanks

  • @RobotsAreRed

    @RobotsAreRed

    Жыл бұрын

    The loop amount goes by how many bars you have set in the quantize section. So 1 would be 1 unit (which may be 4 bars at default). Also make sure you save your pattern before switching patterns.

  • @Indianabones007

    @Indianabones007

    Жыл бұрын

    @@RobotsAreRed I have just realised I have to adjust quantize setting, but weird though as it makes the longer pattern 1, play only half the pattern then. Am I missing something else? So I can’t have one pattern at say, 16-64 and pattern 2 at 16-33 for like a fill or something? I saved pattern. If I do what you done (if doing it correctly that is) I and duplicating pattern by pressing save and new pattern while is arranger mode and then go back and edit pattern and save but I’ve. He led and when I do this, new pattern isn’t loaded so I have to do that manually.

  • @RobotsAreRed

    @RobotsAreRed

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Indianabones007 I'm confused as to why you are starting your pattern at 16. I believe the lowest setting for the quantization is 1 bar, so that would be 16 steps long (if in the default divisor 1/16). So if you have something from 16-64, that would be set at 3 repeats and your fill would be set at 1 repeat. When you duplicate the pattern, you have to then select the new pattern, the pattern you duplicated stays selected.

    @@RobotsAreRed yeah sorry, confused myself! I meant I bar if 16, default!
