A good attorney should be able to get them paid very well for the loss of their trees.

Why is it so freaking hard to get a survey of your property to see where things are before you start clear cutting. Survey about 1k. paying for trees you cut down that are not yours 20k +

Eh, could be $3-5k for the survey. I don't know this particular area, but I am a Maine surveyor

This is like the house built in Hawaii. Built and torn down by a greedy builder on the wrong lot.

Thats no small mistake. You shoud get at least 3 x per tree value, I would contact the local forestry service about finding its true value and get a good forestry lawyer

They may get the value of all there trees times three. Or a lot more than a survey. I think both.

If the victim of this negligent over reach needed an extra (and preliminary) level of permission/approval from the town planning board to build themself (presumably years before - 2018) why wasn't the impatient perpetrator required to go through that public planning step? The town permits department should certainly increased the font size on all contingent and mandatory requirements to their regulations process even if a few extra pages or screens of text are necessary.

people always want to skip the hundreds of dollar in survey but they most likely end up paying thousands of dollars in restitution.

Not hundreds for a survey. I'd like to know where you got that wild idea - just guessing, or using a number from 50 years ago?

Mr. Clark is neglecting to say that he is having a survey done and does not like the results, so he trying to hire another professional land surveyor before the 1st survey was completed and refuses to pay for the 1st survey. You need to ask the question, "Why?" Another professional surveyor is not going to take on a job knowing Another professional land surveyor is not going to get paid!

Make them replace the trees. Not with saplings but mature trees.

Get a good attorney. Where did the trees go. Did they sell the trees. Average size, amounts, and species per acres. City inspector and the contractor are at fault

Some friends of mine just got 15 thousand dollars for the destruction of the trees on their property.

They said that the neighbor had a survey. Now whether that's just a plan or it also included staking the lot line, it's not mentioned

so the officier is checking to see who owns the property AFTER they gave permission to build? isnt that ass backwards?

Rush quickly to litigation . It may of been a honest mistake
