Actually this stock evo5 without aftermarket tuning could hang on Ferrari F355 quite easily in Fuji speed way in Japan. Fuji is an international course that F1GP is held every year. It's not a short circuit and of course not a rally course either. Evo5 is epic, definitely.

All the body kit is there as it had to be for homologation for rallying. The car evolved as FIA regs changed hence Evo 6 spoiler changing.

+Jamie_FYD Expensive to operate is pretty straight forward, but I was hoping you could elaborate. As far as I understand there's basic running cost which is one thing, but you're probably talking about the "EVO tax" of just general upkeep that's beyond oil changes, fuel cost and all that, right? What kind of additional maintenance does the car require that's more than what most cars need. Is it just an overall expensive running cost of the basic amenities that every car needs, or is it more about reliability issues? How much are we actually talking here?

This is my old car! Nice to see its been looked after. Not sure I agree with the 'ebay mods' comment, it only had a few tasteful jdm mods when I sold it. Love the review though, sadly I've heard that it's suffered piston failure now, I wonder if it will ever be back on the road, would be nice to know!

I’m a more Subaru fan myself, because i prefer the brand as a whole, but the reason you see more Subarus is mainly because of rarity, and the fact more Subarus were uk models.

If your sale date is before the car has reached 25 years old they wont let you import it. You have to purchase the car after it is legal.

i really like these and do want one but i find it hard to believe it would be more fun my mk1 focus rs. that might only be fwd but its incredible. i know someone who sold their mk1 focus rs for an evo 8 then sold it to buy another mk1 focus rs as the evo was too easy to drive fast, not rewarding enough despite being faster and more capable than the focus.

also if you have an accident the panels are a fortune. ayc pump is a common problem. mpg just isn't even calculated running one of these, its just pump to pump even when driven lightly! . saying all that i had mine as a daily for 2 years, they are an absolute mistress. likely to break your heart lol, mine did

You've got to put it in proportion tho, it's a lot more fun/faster than a normal car & it's a cool car to own hence it's gonna cost more. You get what u pay for, save loads of money & drive an ecobox if you don't want the bills & fun. 120 miles for £30 does suck but that race against an M4 I had last wk was priceless XD
