    Great car and review! The lane keeping assist/aid can be turned off by pressing the button on the end of the indicator stalk.

    This ST uses a borg Warner diff, a set of clutches on the front axle,.it's torque sensing.. interestingly, at 3k with the coil over and bbk that is an absolutely bargain,.I am sure it would be much more to add afterwards.. however STs use to be affordable, its a lot of money compared to other rivals where they use a mechanical LSD and clever geometry to alter the postion of the steering nuckle to dial out torque steer, its, dual axis on the Civic Type R and hyperstrut on the Megan RS.. I wonder what a revo nuckle setup would feel on a modern focus 🤔

    I need this car in my life before Ford ultimately bins it. I love and respect all other hot hatches and their respective qualities but, owning a Mk4 Focus ST-Line, I can only imagine how good the ST must be. Kind regards from Portugal!

    Any idea on the range this ST has been getting from a full tank? Had mine 2 months now and covered 1,000 miles but when I fill it up I’m only getting a range of approx 230 miles which seems slightly low to me. Don’t get me wrong I know what I’ve bought and realise a hot hatch isn’t exactly fuel efficient😂but was still expecting it to be slightly higher from a full tank. When I picked it up the garage filled the tank for me and I’m sure the range was showing over 300 miles🤷🏼‍♂️. I’ve also been filling it with premium unleaded. Also had a few niggles with the sync 4 system shutting itself off and being glitchy😬. Despite these minor issues though loving the car and it’s great fun to drive.

    My best advice would be to say that cars take around 20-30k miles to run in for the engine to become most efficient. I do plan to meet up with this owner again in the future so will share how he has found his economy figures. I would say if you drive gentle, difficult I know in a hot hatch, 40mpg should be achievable along with a range of around 350-400miles. 230miles seems very low to me. For reference my MK7 VW Golf R averages me 350-400miles with 500miles achievable on a long motorway trip (say London to Scotland). I rarely have seen below 300miles over my 6 years and 43,500 miles with the car and see no reason why your Focus ST should not be able to achieve the same. Please keep us posted with your ownership experience 👍

    Cheers Sam! Think you’re right it’s going to take time and a lot more miles for the engine to fully bed in and become more efficient. I don’t do a massive mileage either and work is only a 20 min journey from home so my current average mpg is only 25😂. The journey there and back in it is a joy though on some nice twisty roads👌🏻. Think it’s the Ford capless easy fuel system that’s caused the low range as well when I fill up as noticed it seems to click very early and doesn’t appear to fully fill the tank🤔. Been pulling the nozzle out slightly and continuing to fill as much as I can, got a range of 312 miles last week so an improvement on 230 anyway😂. Would be interesting to get this owners thoughts anyway when you next meet up with him. Keep the vids coming and will continue to update on my ownership experience👍🏻

    Do the new st have a break in period seems to now be missing from the user manual but but my mk4 says 1000mile

    All cars should be treated with care early on in there life but I am not sure if there is a specific break-in procedure with the focus ST recommend by Ford. No doubt it is worth taking things easy within the first 1000 miles.

    Sam, you are pretty knowledgeable about cars and stuff… The Audi RS3 appears to have disappeared from Audi’s website. Is this significant or just a blip ….. Confused….?

  • @SamAustin

    @SamAustin

    I would say it may well be a blip or they are short on supply. They are also introducing a new RS3 performance model soon I believe so they may just be updating there website 👍

    There is a very real reason why Ford didn’t produce the RS. It would have cost Ford a fortune in emissions penalties, even although the previous RS was not that thirsty. It is all now to do with the deals that can be done…. with hybrids, E.V.s and stuff…. Dreadful business.

  • @SamAustin

    Yes a real shame to see where things a going as the ICE is now being left behind despite being so useful to so many. I would have loved to have seen a MK4 Focus RS and it would have also enhanced the product of competitor cars also 👍

    I think Ford missed a trick here, they could have used the RS name and simply added all the kit including the performance pack
