I was driving home tonight after watching a banff film fest in boone. midnight. turned off headlights going down my long and densely forested driveway in the moonlight. that owl must've respected that because she flew in front of me then right over me and then landed there and let me get out of my car and watch her for 5 mins just 10 feet away. one of the films ended up being Earthside which featured Hilaree Nelson. it showed her memorial service, which I attended a cpl years ago. it was so strange to be in a theatre full of people that didn't know her. that was a powerful time in telluride and for me it felt like another sign that shifts were happening there and it was my time to leave too. and there she was. and there was telluride. and then that sweet owl in the moonlight. what a beautiful day and night.
