Thing is though, it's not only entertaining for the viewer to watch but I personally think it makes morale a lot better. If I were matched with Brad and he did his usual talk as he does in videos then I would likely play much better because you don't feel pressured like you might if someone is monotone and fairly likely to blame you if you lose. Some of my more favourite games have been with people who are more energetic and coordinated like Brad and I've won every game with a person like that.

This is why I hate competitive. Like even if you're doing really well, the whole team just finds one member to blame.

Idlehampster theyre not wrong though. He didnt even give deathdog the chance to use soldier his gold elim is 17 elim but if deathdog use it he could get like 27 elim. If zylbrad really give him a chance to use soldier who knows he mightve done better than zylbrad and even if they didnt win it still shows that the enemy team is just playing better than him as zylbrad gave the likely best dps player a chance to play the best dps. But if he didnt even give other a chance to use doc when losing they obviously will lose as nothing is changing so it will just be the same outcome over and over again.

This is why competitive without a group is cancer. Groups of players will just decide that it's everyone else's fault and blame them endlessly, until even the neutral people in the game will stick with them just because they're a majority. I think you did great Zyl, don't mind the fuckbuddies that whine all game.

There are always several aspects to something like that. For example, after 1000 hours of OW (at a very high MMR, played with professional players), I finally quit back in may. My stats - 400 hours on my most hated hero, 34 MINUTES on my most liked hero. Now, you might say "dude, you must be some rigid meta guy" - no, quite the opposite (I know it sounds strange), it's just that if we have three hanzos and a widow, I can't exactly go Tracer. Not in the sense we'll lose, that doesn't matter that much, but in the sense, the match falls apart so much, to the point you don't get any gameplay. Even a worse team will spawncamp you in a situation like that. People play [heroname]watch instead of overwatch. Heroes are tools, even though it might be counterintuitive to some due to the fact they have personalities and are marketed in a wrong way ("who will you main" and such). Thing is, some roles/heroes are abnormally more popular than others. Which basically means, if you are even one mental inch below being a total douche, you'll play tanks/supports 99+ percent of the time. This game has a very specific picking process, unlike, say, a MOBA. Which means you can "troll legally". More than 90% (a broad estimate) of players instalock and engage in staring contests. That's anti-productive at its core. The point I'm trying to make is, I guess, while it's not nice to gang up on someone, Brad is also grieving in a soft way, to put it that way. I played with a guy who went hanzo five times in a row. I went Lucio five times in a row (Lucio is the only hero in the game I can't stand btw, I can't ignore his voice lines, his animations, sounds etc and they get to me - and yet, I had 300-400 hours on him alone even though I tried not to EVERY SINGLE MATCH). Hanzo is a VERY popular pick. And, as you can imagine, if I'm on lucio five times in a row, it means that others went for their own hanzo variations as well and stuck to them. So, no sharing, no caring, I guess? Sure, I could have said "fuck you all" and go Tracer or something and lose in two minutes with an atrocious team comp which not even a Michael Jordan of OW could make workable. But, that's the part where I'm not a douchebag. But not being a douchebag in some other game, with less liberty in picking system, means that, if you want to play, say, a dps, you will play half of the games as dps and the other half as non-dps. In OW, if you want to play as dps, but aren't a douchebag, you will play as dps in one in twenty games. That's why I can't see anyone in these matches (except dedicated tanks/supports, who actually like to play them and choose them for that reason - and number of those is low) as NOT being douches. Including Brad. You saw it for yourself. He played Lucio (yay, I guess?), which freed the slot for someone to perhaps play a dps (although, going according to the non-douchebaggery rule, they were probably cornered into playing a second support, but I digress), and immediately he's like "well, it was fun but I WANT TO DPS" and then proceeded to pick accordingly. Well, the thing is, I can guarantee with my life (regardless of outliers who might comment) that 90% of Lucios are feeling exactly the same as Brad. As for this situation in particular, you are forgetting that Brad isn't giving any ground himself. He's just doing it in more lovable way. Remember on route66, when some guy asked him if he would be willing to switch if they lost the first point badly? The answer was basically a nicely wrapped "fuck you, no". Was his request unreasonable? He didn't demand anything. I know this is a comedy content, but the thing is, if we are looking at what happens in these matches, it would be very unfair to give comedy points or charisma points. Fair thing to do is to get technical. And if we do that, we'll see that Brad was playing some single player game. In a charismatic way.

i think it might just be the server im playing on (i live in england so eu) but i have been playing comp for a week now went from 2400 to 2800 and didnt encounter a single toxic player/flamer. I am on pc and mainly just pick lucio and sometimes tank/dps, but literally out of 50 games have found like 2 toxic people. idk why everyone is complaining

I'm also UK and my last couple of games has had toxic players. That said I'm a significantly lower SR than you so it's full of people thinking they're the best and everyone else's individual performance is why they're losing. When I was a bit higher SR I hardly ran into toxic players though. It just took a few to trap me in a cycle of losing and toxicity.

denizu179 Depends how good and lucky you are. If you can climb into high-plat/low-diamond, people are usually chill. Low gold and below are almost always, but treat comp like quick play. Anything between is like LoL or CSGO. Speaking from my own experiences.

Sadly, it's just Overwatch competitive play in the higher ranks that raises toxicity levels between communications. Understandably, when you are losing, you will feel frustrated and therefore can lead to blaming others but yourself in these type of situations. But I do agree with some of the comments here stating that Brad was not actually doing anything wrong, other than not allowing Deathdog to use Soldier. Then again, i see his other friends being complete hypocrites for stating if Brad didn't change, they'd lose the game, as if Brad should be held responsible for the entire team. That's just BS. In honesty, I didn't see the others doing such a grand or game-changing job on the field that would have altered the end result. Point is, even if Brad had changed hero to another hero, the team would have probably blamed him for something else, perhaps not doing enough, or saying the damage has been done since it would have been different if he had changed from the start. I just think others need to realise that sometimes, you have to accept that a team can be slightly better or more experienced than one team. It's competitive for a reason. Don't let it go to your head Brad, just accept the fact it's a game and have fun. I know you mentioned you are having fun, that's good. Having fun whether you win/lose means you are simply playing the game for what it is, and also, if you are having fun, your performance will be much better than that if you are unhappy, conflicted and just frustrated, it will only exacerbate matters.

I'm can't really tell, but at 24:35, are the other players on Zylbrad's team being honest when they say that Zylbrad isn't playing well enough, or are they just being salty? Because in my (admittedly untrained) opinion, he looks like he's playing pretty damn good, and he's got the gold medals to prove it... or is that not the case?

Jon M it happens all the time in comp, but especially at that level, one team is normally just objectively better. If you watch the game at 24:00, you'll see that the other team are consistently winning every 1v1, and they are targeting every player who falls out of formation, even if it only briefly. Maybe zylbrad could have killed more people. However the main problem is, even though the people on zylbrad's team are skilled, the other team were better players individually and strategically. Of course no one can admit that and so they just gang up on one person.

It's crazy how right stylosa was tho, rank really doesn't mean shit. I mean you play in gold and you see ppl doing stupid shit, then you watch an average master team and they are still doing the same shits only more refined. Because 99% of the people don't actually care about learning the game, they only care about winning. The thing is rank doesn't matter since it's a personal statistic calculated on a not personal thing (a team). People think rank is "how good are you?"; when it's actually "how good were the teams you played with?" teams that are even randomly generated when you solo queue, or don't play with an entire team anyway. It's like explaining how good a gpu is by describing the cpu, the mobo, the case, the cooler...... At the end of the day the only thing that counts is finding a team and stick with them, get actually better at the game as a team and as a part of a team. You could even have a team whose players are individually gold level with average aim , this team could beat a randomly generated diamond team any day of the week. Overwatch is actually like playing chess blindfolded and upside down, sure it's tricky to position your pieces correctly, but what matters the most is still knowing how to play chess I wish people who want to get better watched analysts instead of pro players, you can't learn aim by watching a vid anyway, but you can learn how to play. I would advise watching flame's vods

CSGO Tips and Tricks Ok now just let me tell you a story: Overwatch is the first competitive fps i have ever played, since i used to play on console on the past, and i wasn't really into multiplayer at first, so you could argue the shooters i played were like mass effect, and things like that.... Now, i bought OW something like 2 weeks b4 the comp came out, so not only i had to learn OW, i had to learn how to aim which was new to me. I used like 4cm/360 (i'm not even kidding) and i didn't know the game; in a word: I was bad. I played the first season 14h, and b4 that i played like 18H in qp, so i was soooo inexperienced on my first season. Right after the season ended i wanted to improve my aim so bad, you don't know the drive i had. So i picked up mc cree and i started forcing myself to learn, just so you can understand my mc cree had a avg acc of 18% at first, i was BAD. During the period between season 1 and 2 i played soooo much, like 60H, and i got on season 2 with 38% on mc cree, and a lot of knoweledge. I played like 20H more on qp and 80H on season 2 by then, and in the meantime i grew so much, i studied OW (yes i studied it, like for real) and my mc cree is now avg 51% with 20% crit. I'm so much better now than when i played first season that i don't know even where to start. I'm a gazillion times better under any point of view. I can play any hero in the game at good level I can aim I know strats, meta ,composition, maps ,tactics I know how to make calls in a team I can play at very good level at least one hero from every category..... You know what's funny? *I had an higher rank season 1*

Brendan Kress At want point does rank become a way to quantify your skill? I'll tell you right now: never. Because you start on a rank decided by placement matches where everybody plays together (random teams) and you end on a rank that you have to climb by still playing with teams that are in the same position as you, still random. It will always be random, and it will always be influenced by wether you win or not but hey! You don't play alone! This is a team game so the skill rating is nothing more than your team's skill rating! Now it would be perfectly fine provided you have a team, but if you don't? The problem is that for some misterious reason the overwatch team decided personal skill doesn't have a place in the skill rating. They talked about this recently, the personal factor matters less than 5% in the delivering of SR. But the funny thing is that we have stats, averages, from the entire world, why can't we compare those to your performance to give you a true skill rating? couple that with the skill rating that exists now and you have a much more refined skill rating, one that actually works (well not really, but it's a starting point) For example, look at masteroverwatch, they store tons of data, just compare your data with those averages and it's done. You can see every hero has alot of lines "filled" in different measures, and it tells your "top", now how is a averaged top 10% zarya low rank? And how is an averaged top 50% lucio high rank? Because rank *doesn't mean shit* You can get carried and you can get dragged down, cause since there is not a reliable skill rating to begin with, you won't be put with people of your actual skill rating, just people that are in your same situation. This win/loss system only works with 1v1 games, like Street fighter

Salty semen will always cry and blame everyone but themselves. I remember playing a game as McCree. I was on fire 90% of the game, had gold damage, gold elims, gold objective time and gold objective kills on Hollywood attack, but we lost at the last point because someone on our team was playing Pharah and REFUSED to change when they were CONSTANTLY getting shut down. Pharah was in a group of 4, who did they blame? Me. I carried the team hard, but not hard enough, so they blamed me. Overwatch community is more toxic than the LoL community.

The problem with Overwatch, and the 2/2/2 meta in particular is that team dmg output is the only thing that matters, but individual damage is what is displayed. Say your dmgs deal 25k dmg, while enemy team dmgs deal 15k dmg. Your dmgs are pumping out a LOT more damage that affects the enemy in some, even damaging barriers means something, as it forces the enemy team back often. Now the problem is your team might still be losing, and who'll get the blame? Damage dealers, but why? They're doing more than the enemy dmgs, so why are they losing? Because of the cumulative team damage. While the enemy dmgs might only be doing 15k, if their supps and tanks pinch in with 20k, then the team output 35k dmg. While your supps and tanks might only have output 5k because they think their only jobs are taking dmg and healing, so your team's cumulative dmg comes out to 30k. People are too quick to judge dmg dealers especially, because they don't consider that there are limits to how much dmg you can output, so they don't consider that they as a Lucio might be part of the problem, because even if they use their abilities well, if they can put in more dmg than the enemy supports, they're effectively bringing down their own team. THAT RIGHT THERE, is the real problem with Overwatch. Lack of perspective.

just fyi if you don't know when to speed boost you should almost always have it on speed boost in a team fight unless they are doing serious damage since there was an ana with you, who has the highest burst healing in the game. she could easily heal the rest of the team, especially since your speedboosted teammates are going to be much harder to hit than normal. if you keep it on heal the entire time you might as well be playing mercy because she has insanely high healing and can evade situations very easily if her team is there to support her. TBH that first game the enemy team really just sucked ass, you had 3500 healing as lucio which is not very high. but still im not here to complain or argue or shit

I loved it when those guys were like ''medals don't matter when you're loosing'' and then you said ''how do you gauge that i'm doing badly'' and they were just speechless. There seems to be this breed of Overwatch player who finds a way to blame someone else for the failures of the team, even in the face of opponents that are simply outmatching your team, they theory draft in their head a solution to fix all their problems without any idea if it would actually be any better. Case in point he assumed his friend was a better soldier without any idea that in this situation his friend would perform any better, it's 50/50 his friend could have just as easily performed worse than Brad on soldier. What makes someone toxic is when they continue to ship the blame onto someone who is clearly performing to their best in that situation and should rather shut the fuck up.

See, this is why Console competitive is more tolerable. Hardly anyone talks. More frustrating gameplay wise, but a lot less toxic.
