Overvolting the Razor e300 scooter

A quick video explaining what we did to make the e300 scooter better, faster and more fun at parties!
We swapped out the stock speed controller for a 36v unit, replaced three stock throttle with a hall-effect throttle with digital voltage readout and added a third lead-acid battery in series to bring the scooter to 36 volts!
And we proceeded to quickly fry the stock 24volt motor! Stay tuned as we continue to upgrade to a 350w motor and eventually a 500w motor to make this scooter a hill climbing monster!

    Got a question. I bought 24v 350 watt with a 24v 500watt controller, throttle with key. Everything hooked up and without touching throttle, tire moves. Do I have a cross wire? My batteries are trash. Going to order new next week.

    I have a E200, just a 36V e-bike controller and 18V Milwaukee batteries. Would it be possible to put it all together and have a working scooter?

    Hi. Did you modify the cover to fit the batteries that are now standing upright, not on its side?

  • @NortheastVintage

    @NortheastVintage

    Ashley Barkmeyer Yes. Originally I cut and welded the battery tray Support’s to lower it enough to fit three lead acid batteries standing side by side. But since then I’ve gone to 36v hoverboard batteries and they fit three in an unmodified scooter battery tray. With my existing modifications I’m able to fit four hoverboard batteries. We just took the scoots for an 8 miles very hilly hide and they still had 38volts left to go! This is with a 1000W controller and a 500w motor!

    Matthew Guilbault thanks for the info. I am looking at doing something similar to my e300. I also build RC planes and drones so I am familiar with the electronics. I have a few more questions regarding your mods if that’s ok? - do you have a voltage cut off mechanism for the batteries? - do you need to remove the batteries to charge them? - is your motor a brushed or a brushless motor?

  • @NortheastVintage

    @NortheastVintage

    Ashley Barkmeyer Happy to help! One of the reasons that I use hoverboard batteries is because they have a built in BMS so no need to remove the batteries to charge or to worry about cut off voltage. It’s all built in! It’s a brushed motor but I’ve heard good things about the brushless. But honestly the 500w will carry 160lbs up a very large hill and not even get warm to the touch. Not sure how much more performance I need. But I may consider a hub motor as an upgrade to the second scooter. Hope this helps!

I am not really electronically smart enough to figure out....how hard would it be to have 2 battery packs...the originals and more....and make some way to charge either set and switch to either set.....like an auxillary gas tank....is that maybe something a repair shop could rig up for me?
