Good video, but I think you got the dual keyboard thing a bit wrong though : when you're in dual keyboard mode anything you have in slot B will controlled through the specified midi channel (synth, organ, piano or combinations!). I have used it extensively and I think it's a killer feature.

I connected my nord stage 4 synthesizer via midi cable to roland electronic drums. So that the nord arpeggators synchronize with the tempo of the drum. Turn out. But there is a delay that ruins everything. What to do?

I have a writing session with someone who has this keyboard tomorrow. Are you saying I can't simply bring my midi cable and plug in to my interface as usual from the rear USB of the keyboard??

Hi , I found that once Ive made the changes in the External Section, when I switch my Nord off and back on. I need to redo it. How do i save those settings? I also found that switching between the external section and LIVE mode sometimes the settings go. Can you please advise.

its confusing how they don't make it clear whether a setting refers to in or out. I am still struggling with my external midi keyboard playing my NS2 , the settings don't seem to memorise , when i come back to the patch later , midi settings are different, i don't understand how i can fix it.

How do I get the control or swell pedals to send midi. I’d like to map the control pedal to a midi parameter such as volume on my MacBook and can’t seem to figure out how to make it work. Isn’t the control or swell pedals sending midi?

You need to actually show this working in a DAW or elsewhere. I'm more confused than when I started

I have a stage EX 73 SW key and want to use an 88 key hammer action controller to play only the piano sounds on the nord. Everything else would be controlled by the nord. Any idea how to do that? Thanks Bill

I turned the global to USB 1 to USB 1 to use it as a controller for Sibelius. I'm still not getting any response on my computer. This didn't really demonstrate anything. Can anyone help me? I've been looking on forums and just getting no where. Also, slot a and b don't turn off on my nord. I have the stage 2 ex, but all that means is that I have extra storage.

Use the Extern section to control the software. Make sure the zone is active and sending MIDI on the correct channel and port, and set the same to receive MIDI in the software.

Noob Alert: So just bought my first monitors for the Nord Stage 2 (so everything isn't stuck in headphone land) but I'm having trouble getting sound out. I currently left Ch1-Out piping to my audio box that helps record to my CP with a standard 1/4" cable. Ch2-Out is a 1/4" cable connected to my new monitor. No sound. I'm missing something here but lost trying figure what switch to flip in order to use my monitor for playing sound directly out of the Nord. You're advice would be most appreciated! Thanks again for the great walkthrough video!

...so to use it as a master keyboard , i have to put it on midi 1 and use usb output and put in my mcbook pro on the usb enter ( sorry i'm French ) and then it's 'recognised' by Logic pro ? is that right ?

i still dont know how to setup my stage to logic pro!! :/

YOu can prepare sounds / patches . samples on the PC and then import them to the Nord if that's what you mean

Hey thanks man! Quick question though, I'm MIDI dumb. Here is my situation... I have a Nord stage 2 - 73 semi weighted waterfall keys KB, and I want to play on a weighted 88 keyboard. We also have a 88 key Nord Piano 2 that I'd like to use for the size and action of the KB. I literally just want to play the 88key NP2 but hear the NS2 as if I were playing that. How do I do that? I have a midi cable but only 1 sustain pedal. So I want to control the NS2 just as if it were a NS288. Help?

Magnus Ralund Hey man. Yeah, I figured it out. I forget how I did it though. I am away from the NORD for a few weeks too. I connected the MIDI Cable between the two keyboards (I forget which was in and which was out...sorry) There is a Midi Global setting and a channel you need to assign. It basically made my big 88 weighted keyboard the NS2. It was awesome. I just forget how exactly I did it. It was super easy though. I'm sorry I can't help right now. But I will look again soon. Good luck in the meantime!

Russell Allen Thanks for the help. You too! I was really in doubt if it was even possible, since I could not find any video with someone controlling the nord 2 from another midi keyboard. I think I will try to do what you did and hopefully with a bit of trial and error, it will succeed. Now all I need to do is to buy a big 88 weighted keyboard like you.

Russell Allen Magnus Ralund Sorry for the late reply guys but as you have seen - yes, this is possible without too much trouble. You need to hook a midi cable from the Controlling keyboard midi out to the Stage midi in. This is the 5 pin old school midi cable. Make sure you know what channel the controller is sending data on (read the manual of your controller) and then go in to the stage menu and set the master midi channel to the Hardware port (not USB) and that midi channel. If you want the controller to only control piano you can set the piano midi channel to the controller midi channel instead of the master channel.
