Wow I enjoyed this POV very much, what a way to start a video. I think the 200NM of torque from very low revs in this 1.0TSI is a saving grace for this engine, but still I'll wait for the 1.5 TSI to arrive. Thanks and gudluck for the video, God bless🙏

Demtumza, always bringing positivity. I so appreciate that🙏🏽🙏🏽🙂 The 1.5 TSI would really be great, I know that engine is not a joke. Performs like 2.0s from other manufactures yoh! I don't know if they will bring it though, I did not hear anything, especially because it might be more expensive in a segment so sensitive lately. Also the T-Roc starts at around +R503K, which might be another reason

I’m buying a red with black color on like in the vid just a little more black with 18’ rims etc. R line with 1,5 TSI. The car is so comfortable and enjoyable for me. In Denmark the only one close today is qashqai but more expensive with the same amount of equipment I got (I literally got everything). Only downsides about this car, I’ll admit it as being a new owner in the coming days is small fuel tank if 40 liters, plastic doors (rest of the interior is fine and nice and simple I guess). The last thing is no electric adjustable seats. Those are the downsides of a car with so many upsides. Cheapest sunroof in my country by a mile. Better luggage room than many cars in this class if you want a dog cage in the back, t-roc can’t have it. Legspace in the back is good even when I’m 188 cm / 6’2. No plastic noises in corners which more cars than you’d think have. If you are in a country where new/used new cars are becoming very expensive Taigo is one of the best options with price and quality

Great to hear how it is from the other side. We only get the 1.0 TSI this side and thats one of the downsides. Optional extras may also throw some people off but they make this car to look so amazing. We are anticipating that it is going to do amazingly well as South Africans love VW. As for the sunroof? Best extra for VW in this coutry. Hope you will have a great time with it, the VW Group's 110kw is the best engine for me👌🏾

This is an all round good car,,but for the money I’d expect an electric parking brake and rear air vents,,atleast for the style and R-Line model.But other than that nice looking compact coupe CUV

I agree Kopano. There are areas making it a little less "premium" like the plastics on the door, manual seat adjustments and the areas you mentioned. The base pricing is also quite competitive in the segment, just that when you start speccing it, it starts to fight. Otherwise, a great all round small family vehicle.

@@sebuwam yes I noticed that they used plastics on the doors🚩, atleast the front doors should have had soft touch on the upper part, they should hve also atleast gave us an option to hve electric seats for the driver,,but anyways this will sell considering it’s a VW at the end of the day. “Badge appeal”

@@Kopsnkops I really think soft touch complete the "premium" feel and should at least be put in front if its on a budget. You could not have said it better, it will sell for a VW. The brand will sell before anything else.👏🏽

@@sebuwam strange thing, this afternoon I went out for a jog in Ipanema and saw it, then the light bulb moment clicked. I've seen it before but it's called Nivus here in Brazil.

Nash you on my top 5 list for car reviewers, you are certainly number 1...I mean you know how to make a dude remember why he fall in love with a car💯🙌✊👏 On some channels they mentioned that those seats are a bit hard for a daily, can I daily this?

Not sure if this is for me as I see it refers to Nash but I will also accept it, thanks a lot🙂 I honestly did not drive it long enough to gauge seat comfort but it felt like any other standard VW Polo seats.

Sure Sbonelo, I'd love to do it, honestly I haven't been lucky with VW as a brand. From dealerships to manufacture, I have not been receiving the right responses. Will keep pushing though so to cover them though👏🏾

Pricing aside, this is perfect for someone who doesn’t want a T-cross but can’t afford the T-roc. It’s also a very stylish car, so I think it could outsell the T-cross and get some sales from the Polo especially amongst the younger buyers.

No young person in thier right mind will spend 500k on an 1.0 litre engine. No pun intended! It'll sell but it won't outsell T Cross because there's nothing special about it.

Why didn’t I see you at the launch Mpho? I saw Sosa. I found the car to be punchy as well, can never question the drive train. Can’t help but think this is a grown up Polo with a high ground clearance, and coupe feeling. I thought you won’t stop counting the added on extras, jeez! Vw needs to start selling us packages like we getting with Haval’s and Chery. The prices keep climbing on and on as you add spec! 😭😭

Ah Sizwe, I went there late (around 4), I wanted to see the lights at night🤣. Will surely meet someday👏🏽 Well, the options model is not that bad because it gives us a choice but if the base price is already above competition it becomes difficult. Asian cars mostly bring that take this package or the next but think about cars like CX-5 where you can only get a turbo with the top spec or maybe even Haval where Sunroof only comes with Lux, someone may feel like I can't afford the next level but if only I could get sunroof. Mara adding almost a R100K to make it look this stunning is quite tough yoh😰

This is a better choice than the T-Roc considering that it's similarly sized. Price aside. For me with the VW SUV range, it comes in at number 3, being Touareg, Tiguan then Tiago. But spending R570k for a fully loaded Tiago 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴💀💀💀💀

From what I saw at the launch, the T-roc is bigger and has more leg room at the back especially. The Taigo is literally a Polo with a a higher clearance.

Eish I hear you Sipho, when you spec it up, its start to deviate from its most attractive aspect (for me) which is pricing. Luckily even the mid-spec Style is not looking bad just that this R-Line is just looking better. The T-Roc is better for me, unfortunately pricing eish😰

@@sizwedinisesoko I agree. The rear is a little tight, I did not wanna put that because I had not adjusted the front seat when I tested it. It can take 5 adults though, surely. Just not sure if the engine will be pulling breathing properly though🤔

Great car but the drawback was the sound system for me, at full volume it rattles a bit. When its in drive, it takes like 2 seconds to kick in so it jumps but it can hold its own I was there also, wish we could've met bra, nonetheless great car and great review.

I am with you there, I did not test the beats audio while driving but tested it on the blue one that was parked, it did not blow my mind but I thought let me not say much since all the doors and boot were open. In drive, it really feels to be working harder than the Polo with the same engine despite weight not being that far off. Can't conclude since it was a very short and quick run. Someday we will meet, I did not take a lot of time there, came in shot the videos and left. I was in between work😉

Where does this leave the T-Roc one of my favorite vw SUVs

Still there, remember T-Roc is a Golf at heart and this is based on the Polo platform and slots just below it. 🙂

It's basically the same price as fully spec Polo GTI,but with less power. So it'll be a matter of preference in the end.

Yep, they understand that people are not willing to spend more on hatches so they made a crossover based on the Polo. Increased practicality over the T-Cross. I guess its a game of options for consumers🤔

I really like this car, I just wish it came with the 1.5TSI 😞

Eish, that 110kw engine is a beast but they are probably managing the pricing. If you check it, its base price cuts just below the T-Roc🤔

@@sebuwam It is a beast and would suit the sporty nature of the Taigo perfectly! Regarding the pricing, if we compare against the T-Cross, the Highline is R448,200 for the 1.0TSI. the R-line is R486,500 for the 1.5TSI. The Taigo is R464,100 for the Style and R486,000 for the R-line. Considering the spec jump is the same for T-Cross and Taigo basically, it means the engine accounts for around R20k difference. So they should be able to get a R-line Taigo for around R500k or so.... I'd personally take a Style 1.5TSI for the price of the R-line 1.0TSI. that would be the sweet spot to me (a Style 1.5TSI for around R486,000).

@@wardes7585 mmmh! I see where you are coming from. Amazing analysis. I that would not be bad at all. My little experience yesterday tells me that the 1.5 will be a good fit as this 1.0 makes me wonder if it will pull like that with 4 occupants and a full boot🤔

Sometimes I really don't understand VW. Here in Brazil, the Nivus (the same car) has rear air vents. Warm regards South African brothers.

Good looking car but the issue is the engine. If they brought the 1.5 TSI it would make a great family car but because of the small engine. I would rather save the money and get a polo or buy a second-hand T-roc
