Overlanding the Enchanted Rockies | The Most Beautiful Place in New Mexico

New Mexico overlanding is top notch. The mountains, canyons and valleys are unparalleled. This weekend a Tacoma, tundra and gmc take on the enchanted Rockies. Not the Colorado Rockies but the less known areas south in New Mexico. This is some epic 4 wheeling and the trails were stellar.

Thanks for putting this together. After watching your video I had you add the Valles Caldera spot to my Western Road Trip hit list. Last month I made that trip. Approaching from the east I was stopped by snow above 10,900 ft...8 miles short. I had to fall back and circle around an approach from the West. With some unsolicited help from a local rancher, I was able to make it. What a breathtaking location...I have to admit I was a little misty. Coming from Florida, they're just aren't views that can compare to this. Camped there ovenight. Spent hours glassing down into and around the Caldera. Without you putting this content out there, this guy from Florida would have had no idea I had that such a place even existed.

I agree with your issues concerning the side by side vehicles. Goose Lake trail is so narrow & there is so many of them it makes it a real chore to get to Goose Lake. For some reason there seems to be a boatload of Texans there too. You should plan a trip to Valle Vidal. It's North of Red River and it's remote enough where you won't be bothered by other people. There are beautiful views similar to the Valles Caldera area. Thanks for posting your trip. I even recognized some of the trails this time.

You nailed it, 100% all Texans. I don’t blame them for wanting to get out of that flat state but man was it rough passing a gaggle of 4 every couple minutes. It was well worth it though.

I have been up there several times over the last 6 years because it's within a days drive from Dallas. I agree about the traffic. I went during the week and was surprised how many people were on the trails. Luckily I didn't come across anyone while navigating a tight shelf road.

You’ll have rookies, locals, vacationers, dumb ass and all the rest at popular trails. Part of it really, what ya gonna do? I “try” and dispersed camp far away as I can and I trailer a SxS to ride trails. SxS are fun for me, more comfortable on my old ass 52 yr old body and presents more exploring opportunities on tight side trails. I’ll move camp every other day or two on long trips. So I see both sides. Subscriber here, your video’s have great content and you do well narrating. Would enjoy seeing more of White Dog in the vid’s.

Bought them several years ago and never installed on my 94 K1500 that I no longer own. Been looking for someone to give this stuff to and use instead of me tossing them into scrap metal. Many years ago I learned that uphill has the right of way, be it walkers, hikers, cyclists, bikers or vehicles. Thus backing down the hill for a bunch of side by sides just doesn’t seem right.
