F-150 regular cab short bed with Leer DCC wedge cap here. Short wheelbase, camp set up in the time it takes to walk from the cab to the rear doors. Hard sides means out of the weather.

I have a 2017 Expedition that could be a twin to that one in the background… trying to figure out a good build for it as I have 3 kids and the space is pretty nice. I’m really curious about where he got that front bumper!

Full size trucks have larger differentials and a longer wheel base. So, you need bigger tires to have the same clearance. More weight means you need a bigger tire patch. Smaller is better.

My 73 dodge is 1 inch longer than a jeep gladiator but i have 3/4 ton axles 6 inch lift on 35s and i have much more body clearance it started out as a 1/2 ton but 3/4 ton axles are a direct bolt in swap and even though i have front drum brakes it stops great (i did have to buy a 3/4 ton master cylinder / booster but i have no problems 4 wheeling with the little trucks 👍

@@roryreid3124 Yeah well, 1973 full size trucks were way smaller than today full size trucks. I'm assuming regular cab, relatively short wheel base and much narrower than todays full size trucks.

@jeffk464 its every bit as big as standard cab first gen diesel no difference in width full 8 foot bed same as newer standard cabs crew cabs are useless in 4 wheeling scenarios. Too long and one thing ive noticed the longer trucks tend to twist driveshafts my cousin has a 2018 crewcab a nd its no wider than my 73 and it looks like a limo coming down the road but that diesel sounds awesome
