Mista Al That is correct.
Unfortunately, that route shown in the video is no longer possible because of the Syrian conflict taking place resulting in many border posts being closed, and skirting around the West African coast is not feasible either due to current political tensions there, in addition visas are difficult to obtain for some of the West African countries. Anyways this is an epic project that you have done and 2010 was the right time to do it.

I was thinking about taking such trip in next few years, but doing the opposite, from southern Europe to Zimbabwe or Botswana and back. Going trough Greece to catch a ferry to Cyprus, and another ferry to Israel, avoiding Syria and Iraq seems like a best route at the moment. From Israel into Egypt following Nile further south, again avoiding South Sudan and DRC. I'm also aware that to me as a Serb it would require 3 visas (Kenya, Tanzania and maybe Zambia). You seem familiar with the area, are the roads any better now? The road from Mozambique don't seem that bad actually, as shown on video.

You are 100% correct. We were some of the last people to go overland this route through Syria. I had friends following that only a few months later (in 2010) that were actually forced to flee because of the conflict. Thanks for the comment

I created all my videos just to piece together the hundred of hours of footage for an epic once in a lifetime journey. I only uploaded to KZread so I could show my friends easily. I am humbled by the views it has gotten. I doubt it will go viral as it is very old video and its a bit long for people to sit through! Thank you very much for the comment.

MattVon Scruger it's not a gap of open water it is over 100 miles of marshland and dense rainforest, one person drove through it with a jeep but it took 3 years and there aren't gas stations in the gap, so yeah, it's physically impossible to drive out of South America

Must've been a relief to get into turkey. Once you get there you know it's easy going.. at least when it comes to road quality.

Damn I recognize so many places in it! :)
Absolutely epic.
Amazing!
Loved the video and my only complaint is that you could tell us which countries you are in, along the journey.
This is absolutely amazing! I felt being there with you and ending up in London is surreal. What do you all think, is this still doable? Now in 2014....things are, unfortunately "breaking apart" in many countries and some of them are outright dangerous...but I might be mistaken.

What happened to you guys? I came across this by accident and loved it. Would be great to know what you are up to now? Also your website is down? Great videos!
What an incredible adventure and amazing footage. Please forgive my ignorance, but I did not think you could actually drive from South Africa to London. For those of us who are not world travelers, it would have been pretty cool if you had mention each country.
I like the offroading in Africa!
How long did it take to edit this footage? You must have had over 1000 hours of footage to go through. Probably took months.
I Wana try this soon
wow . i have driven from amlawi to cape town but this is insain
I honestly like this version of shooting stars more than the version were all familiar with
Dude I gotta ask about the car, was it yours? What mechanical stuff had to be done and how did you do it through Africa?

Say goodbye to that route in 2018 because it is no longer possible to drive through Syria without a big chance of being caught in a scary situation.

Actually there is a clear and safe enough route going from Lebanon through the Syrian coast and then to Turkey since the Syrian coast is controlled by the government. Not sure if it's possible from a diplomatic standpoint though.

Great. I meant to go on similar trip back in the 90s. But never did. You have inspired me to plan it once gain. May I ask why you did not go up the west coast. I see u strangely shot over from the west coast to the east coast and stayed there?
You great job
WOW!!!!!
Was you returning home to the U.K. or are you just visiting the U.K.
Would be nice when there is finally a crossing through the Strait of Gibraltar between Morocco and Spain.

I'm curious, why didn't you go through Zimbabwe?
wow
Pretty sure its: Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars (Cassian Remix)
This was way too short of a video. I wanted more details as you were driving. Nevertheless, I am impressed that you made this trek.
160 days? That's a very long days of hard driving!
Is now one going to talk about how at 4:24 and 5:58 he almost hits a jaywalker.
